The Dude
Alonzo Whaley is terrible. He looked like one of our better defensive players in the first half, he impressed me. In that second half he had two missed tackles. At least he was in position, we can't say that about a lot of the defense. Quote Link to comment
HuskerBacon
iowa is a joke? No, we already knew that Quote Link to comment
HuskerT
1. O-line looked great in pass protection. 2. T-Mart can throw. 3. Receivers can actually catch. 4. Front 7 is real slow. 5. We need tackling drills. Overall really impressed by the offense and underwhelmed by the defense. Quote Link to comment
Husker no ka oi
The def line is sllllllooooooowwwwww. That will be an issue. Quote Link to comment
HuskerInLostWages
We have a lot of work to do on the defense. The oline played very well today, though i'm still skeptical about them. Maher has a sandy clitoris and needs to douche it or give the job to Bondi. TM changed his mechanics and looked great. We have seen this in non con before, I hope he keeps it up. Offense : A/A+ Defense : C/C- Special Teams : D-/F Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
what did i learn last year? enjoy the wins when you get them. this teams showed us a lot to be excited about. i will hold my breath on the defense, but enjoy the team's performance today. Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
Bad fundamentals on defense. They're going to need some work - tackling first and foremost. Martinez looked better in this game than he ever has before. Far, far better. His mechanics may not be perfect, or there 100% of the time, but he is so far ahead of where he was before it's like watching a totally different player. Whether he can keep playing that well against a stiffer defense is another matter, but he has definitely improved a great deal. That can't be questioned. I think our offense will be difficult to stop this season. If the defense can get their sh#t figured out, a Big 10 title is a realistic possibility. I think Maher was hungover. 1 Quote Link to comment
tschu
Agree on the O-line sentiment. They impressed me today. Not a perfect performance by any means, but definitely encouraging Quote Link to comment
The Dude
Cunningham has improved. Not Taylor Martinez improved, but he's getting there. Quote Link to comment
strigori
No penalties on the O-Line. When was the last time we saw that? That fact that they are not the number one topic of conversation is a great thing. Solid play. 1 Quote Link to comment
Blackshirt316
Whaley isn't terrible. He read the plays really well and was constantly in the right position. He missed a few big tackles but that's because he kept dropping his head. That's fixable. 2 Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
That if TM and this offense can play every game anywhere near the level they did today, we will have the opportunity to win every game on our schedule even if a unit or two (special teams and DL) stinks it up. OL seemed vastly improved. And TM, OMFG- some say he is more than a man but less than a god.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Flood
Brett Maher must have been nursing the god of all hangovers today. Miserable performance, compared to what he usually delivers. Quote Link to comment

EbylHusker
I don't think the Southern Miss defense is a good measuring stick for our O-line. If we get good, consistent play out of them against UCLA, then I'll start to believe. But I'm reserving judgement on that front until then. Quote Link to comment
