husker_99
The Big Ten is already thought of as a weak conference. Adding weak teams could possbily give us a downgrade in voters minds if we added 2 awful teams. Quote Link to comment
Creighton Duke
Awful. Two worthless teams with worthless road trips. Only thing this adds is $$$$$ for major TV markets. Please don't argue that it helps recruiting, lol Give me the Big 12 back, please You really mean the opposite of awful Two fine academic institutions. Worthless road trips? Yeah, most people hate a long weekend in either DC or NYC Quote Link to comment
irafreak
Football-wise it makes no sense for the short-term. Delany is a forward-thinker so I'm going to trust there is a much larger picture to this. If it's simply about TV markets then my confidence wasn't well-placed... And I don't think I've used so many hyphens in a single post before... Quote Link to comment
HuskerShark
Don't like the idea of these two teams at all. husker_99 hit one of the biggest points of all right on the head. Football determines the national perception of how good a conference is, and neither of these teams will help the B1G in that regard. Quote Link to comment

That's great and everything, but if their sports programs aren't worth a sh#t then academics don't matter. At the end of the day, conferences have more to do with sports than academics, and that should be the first thing in the minds of anyone who is looking to expand. Quote Link to comment

Maryland gives us a stronger foothold in basketball. Don't know what sports wise Rutgers brings to the table. They both bring high academic standards though. Quote Link to comment

wags
this is probably more about destablizing the acc in the long term and forcing moves so that when the conferences go to 16 to 20 teams unc, duke, uva, and gatech could end up in the big 10. Quote Link to comment

huKSer
Hate this. Horrible additions. Don't fit the conference at all. AAU members: Rutgers, Maryland, PSU, osu, Mechicken, MSU, Perdue, Indiana, Illinois, NW, Wisky, Ioway, Meenysota Non-AAU member: Nebraska Not that it matters Quote Link to comment

We should be thankful we got in when we did, period. Quote Link to comment
