lionsfan93
another thought... If TMart gets injured--- especially if it is early in the season... then NU's losses will mount up. NU is a blown knee away from a really difficult path. We have (had) and continue to have essentially all our offensive eggs in a single basket. Lets hope that --- like last year --- that basket holds up. If not (again, especially if he is out early) NU will really, really struggle. You don't say? A team with a Heisman contender QB might have a hard time if their QB blows a knee? Profound stuff today. I love TMart --- and have posted many times how his grit and toughness and his heart are admirable. Glad he is a Husker. That said, while early on (and largely because he is a QB in his 4th year as a starter... and because he has been pretty effective) he is an early sort of "outside" shot contender for a Heisman. But as good as he is --- and he is really quite good --- he will not (as time progresses) be part of any serious Heisman talk. I wouldn't say that. Heisman Odds 15/1 odds aren't too bad (AA is right behind him with 18/1) Quote Link to comment
KJ.
So here's the distribution of the predictions in this thread. The average prediction was 10.1 - 1.9. (The number of wins was adjusted to 12 games since not everyone picked 12) As it turned out, the predictions that received the most criticism were just as close to the actual outcome than the ones of those doing the criticizing. Manny Bob took a lot of flack for a 6-6 prediction (off by 2 games) from posters who predicted 10-2 (off by 2) or 11-1 (off by 3). Also in this thread there were some truly awful predictions about Michigan State. There was only one poster who predicted exactly 8-4: Hedley Lamarr. 2 Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Too lazy to go back and look but how can approx. 12% of predictions be for 8 wins if only one person predicted it? Quote Link to comment
Haspula
For the realists out there that realize we will not have a running game and defensive coordinators will adjust for Martinez' shortcomings. And don't forget for a D that will take suckage to another level... Also, no Arkansas State and Idaho State buttercups. Wyoming--W Southern Miss--W UCLA--L (sorry guys...UCLA will only get better > NU) SDSU--W Illinois--W @ Purdue--W/L (Purdue at home...it's like Jekyll and Hyde with Purdue) @ Minnesota--L (sorry...Kill will outcoach Pelini) Northwestern--L (revenge game) @ Michigan--L Michigan State--L (revenge game, pt. 2) @ Penn State--L Iowa--W 6-6 Heart of Dallas Bowl Almost Quote Link to comment
Hoosker
Did anybody predict the Minnesota loss? I didn't see that one coming... Quote Link to comment
It'sNotAFakeID
I find it amusing the amount of people who said our defense would take "suckage" to a whole new level. That defense grew up as the season went on and they are a group that will be really fun to watch these next couple of years. Also, Hedley correctly predicted 8-4. He also said that 2015 is the year to watch. I may not like the guy, but there's some credibility right there. Perhaps we get some momentum for that 2015 season with a good season next year. HuskerFowler
Hard to predict losing your all conference QB and 3/4 of the oline. Doubt Hedley knew RKIII would have played more than Taylor. So we hit his prediction with our 3rd string walk on QB and 2nd and 3rd string oline and 2 starting WR in and out all year. Congrats on that Hedley, never would have happened without a once in a decade type injury bug. It's quite sad it took all that to hit a prediction. We're lucky we had a winning season. 2 Quote Link to comment

We were really close to 6-6.... But, if you had said that at one point we'd be starting a 2nd string offensive line, a 3rd string Walk-on QB, and walk-on WR's... you'd have a different set of predictions. Taylor getting injured after game 1 really hosed this team. No doubt in mind if he's healthy we win 2 more games. As for MSU.... nobody in the country thought they'd go 11-1. Only 1 out of 20 pickers recorded by stassen had them 1st in the division. http://preseason.sta...ensus/2013.html Quote Link to comment

Redux
Nobody based an 8-4 prediction off of injuries, thay based it off Bo and his coaching. Given the circumstances Bo and his coachng made the difference between 8-4 and 5-7. The injuries wee the difference between 8-4 and 11-1. Quote Link to comment
I am I
What really happened to Taylor Martinez? Hard to believe only one person predicted 8-4. I guess if we win our bowl it'll be 9-4. Re-reading this thread already makes me want to predict 10-4--9-4 for next year. It's just our MO under Pelini. Quote Link to comment

Defense sucked against: Wyoming, SDSU (1st half), UCLA (2nd half), and Minnesota. That's "3" games. So about a quarter of the season. Quote Link to comment
