I'd consider golf more of a sport than wrestling...

And wrestling more of a sport than cricket...

and MMA more of a sport than all of the above.

Football, basketball, MMA, soccer, hockey. Those are all the true sports.

I wouldn't walk across the street to watch an MMA bout if someone gave me the tickets for free. Just don't find it entertaining. Wrestling is a great sport it's just not a casual spectator sport. Wrestling is probably in the top 3 physically demanding sports along with Cycling and Triathlelons.

I am not totally sure I understand this as MMA has wrestling in it?

yes and punching and kicking and choaking your opponant into submission. Wrestling is the most ancient of sports and is very popular in a lot of countrys. People that love wrestling and that includes women will watch anytime. If you know the rules and how difficult a sport it is you can really appriciate it. The best thing about wrestling is that you don't have to be tall or big to be good at it. You get out of it what you put into it. If you work hard you can become a pretty decent wrestler. I will never be a great BB player, because I am 5'10" but I wasn't a bad wrestler. I am not that fanatical about it though I coached HS wrestling for about 16 years, rather coach FB

Baseball is so incredibly boring, with a few exceptions. The steroid era, bonds-Sosa-mark Mac launching bombs every 3 at bats or so. Or watching certain pitchers. Other than that...I wouldn't watch more than an inning or two.

I know wrestling, I understand wrestling, and I never said it was easy. I know it is not.

The professional golfer, is the most skilled of any athlete....fact.....

Skilled maybe..... Athletic not so much!

See: One John Patrick Daly

I consider them athletes.... If John Daly isn't an athlete, than neither is this guy.....

wince+wilfork+2.jpg

he can bench press a Buick and run a 40 yd dash in under 6 seconds! JD can bench press jack and cokes and Marlboros and run a 40yd dash in under a minute.

What defines an athlete? I define it as someone participating in sport. Obviously there are different kinds, but a golfer is one with the most skill.... No doubt.

I would agree. If you have never played the game, you have no idea how difficult it is. The pro's make it look easy. Personally, it is the hardest thing I have ever done. Not physically, but mentally.

Just go to a driving range sometime and hit a bucket of balls and see for yourself. :cowbell:

P.S. If you like to drink beer and drive a cart, this game is for YOU!!

Just because golfing is difficult doesn't mean it's a sport. It's not different that go out and shoot deer and say hunting or fishing are sports. They are activities.

Just because you don't like golf doesn't make it not a sport. Oxfords online dictionary defines sport as an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Golf meets all of that criteria as does fishing and hunting, and I loath hunting and fishing.

Just becuase you don't exert yourself cardio vascularly like you do jogging or playing pickup basketball doesn't mean it doesn't require a level of fitness to play. For professional golfers to play at the level that they do does require them to be fit. There is a reason why John Daly is not a top player. It's because he is a big fat slob that drinks a case of diet coke a day and smokes 2 packs a day. But, he is entertaining to watch. Have you ever looked at some of the MLB in the world? That Fielder guy is huge. Half the pitchers are overweight and look like they couldn't run 100 yards.

I call BS on the underlined. Try smoking a pack of smoke a day, carry a 50# bag on your shoulder for 5 hours, swing a club 120 times. Your ass will be worn out my friend.

Dropping wrestling in the Olympics is all about power, money and IOC politics. Modern Pentathelon was also on the chopping block and it stayed becasues some very rich, powerful IOC members love it. Do you even know what modern pentathelon entails?

lets hope we dont have another spring game debacle like 2 years ago

What happened two years ago? I was there and didn't see a debacle, besides Turner being penalized for doing a front flip into the endzone lol. Last year we were stormed out...

Maybe when Cassidy, who was in the red team, was the holder for white team that was attempting a game winning field goal and Cassidy pulled the ball and threw it away so the white team couldn't win.

Is there video of this? In my head it looks like Charlie Brown when Lucy pulls the ball away at the last second...

Drats!
