I know other schools have been increasingly doing this too, and it's always very, very cool. I hope this sort of gesture does not become cliche, though. The conversation will touch on Hoffman’s 69-yard touchdown run in Nebraska’s 2013 spring game, and how it helped elevate awareness for pediatric brain cancer and how it inspired fundraising to support research that will help fight the disease. Vitale expects Friday's gala to raise $2 million to support pediatric brain cancer research, increasing the event’s overall contributions to more than $12 million.
