Know the Foe: Brett Smith

Recommended Posts

Kind of worrisome that in an article praising him for his off-season work and looking ahead to 2013 that one of the main points they made was that Smith is concussion-prone.

We've got a few rush ends who may - according to Fall Camp hype - be able to crash the pocket pretty quickly on Smith. I would hate to see him get hurt.

Virginian - can you tell us more about this? How big of a worry are concussions for Smith?

it's a worry. Smith has to learn not to be so aggressive and get down and save himself. He's extremely competitive and he has a tendency to try and carry the team on his own.

"According to the depth chart, seven Cowboys are set to start in their first Division I football game in Lincoln"

"Still, it must be a bit unnerving to depend so heavily on a group of players that have never played in front of 30,000 fans, let alone a 90,000-capacity sea of red."

Whoa....

Wow. 1/3 of your starting lineup hasn't played a college snap?

Reading through some of those articles on Cowboy Chronicles, it sounds like they're having trouble with their offensive line. If Gregory and Curry/VV are as advertised, and/or Ankrah is playing better as we've been told, that could be a huge problem for the Pokes.

I'm not really seeing the big play threat from Smith's running ability based on his stats.

Are there any highlights of Smith's "big runs" that I saw mentioned on some of the Wyoming sites?

His rushing stats for the past two years:

2011:

13 games, 139 attempts, 710 yards, 5.1 ypc, a long of 69, 10 touchdowns, 54.6 yds/game

2012:

10 games, 114 attempts, 248 yards, 2.2 ypc, a long of 28, 6 touchdowns, 24.8 yds/game
