tmfr15
Phil Steele has released his projections for the AP Top 25. He claims he was 25-of-25 in predicting it last year. Hopefully he won't be perfect this year, cause if he is, there will be no mention of Nebraska in the ratings. Michigan State is a top 10 team and Wisky gets some love too. Here is the link to the ESPN video. tinyurl.com/nqujwag Quote Link to comment
ADS
Shouldn't really surprise anyone, imo. 1 Quote Link to comment
teachercd
I don't think they will be ranked to start the year but 5-0 should send them up into the top 15 Quote Link to comment
knapplc
We've done nothing to prove we deserve to be ranked. We need to get off this four-loss plateau to catch the attention of the media again. If we don't, we'll continue to be outside the national conversation. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
Not a huge surprise, but we shouldn't be far off. A solid bowl win, returning talent, health at the QB position, a schedule that isn't particularly scary. I can understand any analyst being shy on NU but they'd be wrong in sleeping on us this year, IMO. This team should be Top 15 by the end of the regular season. If the postseason goes well, this'll be the year the analysts stop sleeping on NU. Their goal is to project, but they're always reactionary. 1 Quote Link to comment
tmfr15
I was kind of holding out hope for a 20-25 type spot. That's the bad news. A good season would have us finishing much higher and since it's more important to finish high than it is to start high.... I'll take it. Quote Link to comment

tmfr15
So it could come to pass that the men's basketball team has a preseason ranking and the football team does not. Quote Link to comment
RedRedJarvisRedwine
Rankings shouldn't happen till October. They are there to help push television. Winning takes care of rankings. Especially now only needing to finish 4th to get a shot. 2 Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
Considering we are going to a 4 team playoff for a championship and they will not just pick the top 4 teams in the polls, I would say that these rankings have become more useless than they ever were. 1 Quote Link to comment
EbylHusker
They shouldn't rank any teams until all games are completed, including the playoffs. Quote Link to comment
skersfan
They only bad thing about not being ranked by Steele, is that he is considered one of the best at his job. More thorough than most. That would mean he has very little hope from what he has seen. I never put a lot of stock into any of these predictions. But it is concerning he has such low expectations for Nebraska. He normally gives Bo some pretty good words, and normally is pretty close to the end of the year results. Not being ranked, would most likely mean 9 or less wins in his eyes. Quote Link to comment
iowahuskers
Like some of you have said, I think this is the year when we have a break out year and finish in the top 15 or so. I love the mentality our team has this year. Quote Link to comment

This isn't Steele's rankings. This is what he thinks the AP will do. 1 Quote Link to comment
