Mavric
Roughly half way through the season when accounting for bye weeks. Most teams have played at least three conference games by now. Here's where we sit in some national statistics. First number is overall, second number is among the Power 5. The stats come from this site which I like for several reasons but note that they only include games against FBS competition. Scoring Offense - 7 - 6 Second Half Scoring Offense - 2 - 1 Total Yards per Game - 6 - 3 Rushing Yards per Game - 5 - 3 Yards per Rush Attempt - 7 - 4 Third Down Conversion % - 13 - 9 Time of Possession - 13 - 9 Fewest Punts per Game - 16 - 8 Scoring Defense - 10 - 9 Second Half Scoring Defense - 8 - 8 Total Yards Allowed per Game - 21 - 19 Opponent First Downs per Game - 18 - 17 Rushing Yards Allowed per Game - 15 - 12 Opponent Completion Percentage - 5 - 3 Opponent Yards per Pass Attempt - 14 - 12 Opponent Third Down Conversion % - 6 - 6 Opponent Punts per Game - 2 - 2 Giveaways per Game - 44 Takeaways per Game - 58 Penalties per Game - 78 Penalty Yards per Game - 91 Quote Link to comment

Penalties are worrisome... Again. But giveaways have improved dramatically. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
Whoa! We're 10th in points allowed? Down year for defense in general but I am very pleasantly surprised to see that. These numbers are a breath of fresh air after the last few years. Quote Link to comment

TonyStalloni
It shows me that the defense is pretty good but even better inside the red zone. The offense is moving the ball, scoring a lot and even better in the 2nd half which isn't surprising. Quote Link to comment
MichiganDad3
This shows the Huskers would be a top 10 team if the turnover performance was better. We would be undefeated too. 1 Quote Link to comment

Now...how can that be? I keep reading about how much we suck and our coaches don't know what they are doing. Quote Link to comment
NUance
Scoring Offense - 7 - 6 Scoring Defense - 10 - 9 That's a pretty good combination of stats for total offense/total defense. I like that site as well, Mav. : Quote Link to comment
NUance
Giveaways per Game - 44 Takeaways per Game - 58 Penalties per Game - 78 Penalty Yards per Game - 91 We're #53 in Turnover Margin per Game. LINK That doesn't sound so great, but last year we were #119 for the year. So, a fair amount of improvement since last season. But still got some work to do. As an aside, the Northwestern game this past week was the first game we haven't fumbled in for several years. Anyone catch this stat? I can't remember where I saw it. Quote Link to comment

Mavric
We are turning it over about half a time per game less and taking it away about half a time per game more. Doesn't seem huge but it makes a big difference. 1 Quote Link to comment

Danny Bateman
I think 3rd down conversion percentage obviously speaks to our Os ability to get in 3rd and manageable situations. So, nice job on first and second down as well!! Quote Link to comment
