Look...let me shed some light on this.

1. No one "really" cares who got in trouble with the law on either team as long as the team is winning

2. On a Tuesday, when you see a guy wearing a yellow tie and you hate yellow, I am sure you don't get in his face and scream at him. So...if its a Saturday and a guy is wearing a shirt of the opposing team you don't need to get in his face.

3. It is not how YOU think you are behaving...it is how the people around you feel you are behaving. It is like letting out a loud fart at dinner and saying "Oh, don't worry, mine don't smell" it really is not the point.

That's how you chose to do it. That is completely fine and noble of you. We do it different. You may find that distasteful or obnoxious but, frankly, we don't care. When you come to our house you play by our rules. That is going to include swearing and drinking and general rowdy behavior. We don't want you to feel unsafe but we also don't want you to feel overly welcome, if you don't like the vibe you don't have to come to Madison. Nobody is spitting on grandmas or throwing beer at kids. Or if they do, they will be arrested promptly, because that is behavior that everyone considers over the line. It is funny how all of these stories about UW fans and their despicable actions emerge when we beat a team with more historical cache than us. It is always OSU or Michigan or now Nebraska fans who feel UW is out of control. Surely it has nothing to do with the beat down taking place on the field that challenges their comfortable sense of place in CFB...

Polo.... Is that you?//????

Yeah, I visited a Wisconsin board. Half the folks feel the same way about us as we do about them then there are the occasional sane ones who can intelligently discuss the game. They're concerned that their team might not be ready as well. (One person sited this board and this very thread!-They thought it was funny/stupid/whatever.) Let's face it UW fans are no different than we are. They want to win too so I say may the best team win! GBR!!!

I think I hate Wisconsin more than I hate Iowa....................they're at least on the same level which is WAY above anyone else in the B1G. So they're picking up where Texass, sCUm, and KSUcks left off. Wisconsin is what happens when fans don't know how to deal with success and you throw beer into that situation.

To the Wisconsin fan above that's making excuses for the bad behavior, when everyone around is the "lying a-hole," which is what you are basically saying, maybe your fanbase should look at itself because the problem is most likely the fanbase. Not the one's "lying" about your fanbase's behavior, I've heard these same things from Iowa fans and that's saying something because they're pretty rowdy themselves.

If you ignore all nuance and put words into my mouth. What I actually said is that we get rowdy for football games. Do individuals cross the line? Sure, a couple dozen people are arrested every game day for crossing the line, but that behavior is not generally acceptable at the Camp, thus the arrests. Many posters here made it seem like the stadium was giving a standing ovation as drunks spit on grandmas or throw stuff at kids. That is BS. I have been going to Badger games for 25 years now and I have seen maybe one fight in that entire time, I have never seen opposing fans physically threatened or unduly taunted. Do we curse at opposing fans? Absolutely, but not all curses are the same. The ones that UW fans engage in are goodnatured ribbing, not cruel insults meant to threaten you. Heck we swear at ourselves with far more gusto than we use on opposing fans (except Iowa, F*&% Iowa). If you feel that getting chanted 'A***ole' at you by a bunch of kids is over the line or somehow impugns the entire Badger fan base as savage thugs, Camp Randall is not the place for you. They probably did give an old Nebraska fan an A-hole chant. That is how we do it, if you wear another teams colors into our house you are going to get the A-hole chant. I know this is very much not how they do it in Nebraska, where there is almost a cult of kindness around the football team and that is fine. You get a lot of respect around the nation for being the classiest fan base in CFB and it is clearly important to a lot of you. We pride ourselves on something different and find your obsession with politeness a bit odd and off putting. That culture shock combined with the absolutely embarrassing loss to a program that is basically you from 20 years ago, twisted the experience into something much darker than it really was.

Suddenly some good natured, if drunk, chants become much more sinister in their intent. People pushing through a crowded stadium, again mostly drunk, and spilling things on people rows in front is no longer a simple accident but a targeted assault. We see it all the time. People that come to the Camp expecting their team to lose and/or people whose priority is to have a great experience leave feeling that they just had the time of their life and that Camp Randall is a truly unique and special place. When we play teams like OSU, PSU, or Nebraska who go into every game expecting their team to win going away suddenly the Camp is Sodom and Gomorrah where no kid is safe and grandmas are beat up in the bathroom. Also Iowa. F*** Iowa. You guys have a nice shiny new thing going on with them that will probably turn into a rivalry. We have been slugging it out every year now since the Wright brothers were in swaddling clothes. They are about as biased and jealous a source on all things UW as you can find. Minny fans are resigned to their fate as our inferior, Iowa still thinks they are the better program and our sustained success gets under their skin like no other.

Once again the point is that we watch our team differently than you do. You can stand on your high horse and talk down to us about our behavior all you want. We don't care, its not going to change just because you guys are in the B1G now. We are going to keep doing what we do they way we want to do it. If you don't like that, don't come to Madison expecting something else, you will be disappointed.

You sound like a moron...you don't need to act like an ass. It is that simple. You are probably a virgin.

I will be happy to play by "your rules" and I surely hope to see you there. Why don't you tell me where you will be at on game day...we can meet up.

Bigdsrip explained it well. Culture shock combined with the embarrassment of traveling to support a team made to look worse than they usually are seems to bring out the inner whiner in OSU/MSU/Nebraska fans.

A good example: OSU's fans were big on how awful Camp Randall was back when we used to be able to beat them. Now that they beat us at home every other year those complaints have promptly ceased. I think this Camp Randall brutishness stuff comes more from perception than from reality, as I too have been to many years of games and never seen a visiting fan physically assaulted or threatened but have seen a lot of a-hole chants.

Real quick...you do or do not start chanting "A-Hole" chants at dinners, movies, school plays and the grocery store.

Why does "being at a football game" give the right for one person (home team fan) to be a complete a-hole to another person (visiting team fan)? That just doesn't make any sense.

Bro...you don't get it! See...you might treat people "normal" and that is very noble of you BUT a badger fan has to make sure that everyone is uncomfortable at all times...at a theater, the mall, in line waiting to see Santa...If you don't like it...then DON'T SHOW UP

Badger fans don't want a rivalry with Nebraska.

Badger fans go to Nebraska message board and pick fights with Nebraska fans.

Seems legit...

Who says they don't want a rivalry? The consensus simply seems to be that the trophy is stupid and contrived.

We don't want a rivalry trophy with you. We have plenty of rivals already.

Why would we want a rivalry with a team that has never won a NC? I am a Wisconsin native, but even Iowa has a better history of success than Wisconsin. We will stick with in conference rivals such as Ohio State or a Michigan if they were any good....
