Last I checked, it was Ickyhorst (by direction of Prickman) who fired Pelini, not the fans. The fans don't have a say in it, unless the overall majority speak loud enough, like at LSU. For once, the fans were the sane ones in that Prickman-like situation.

 

 

Conspiracy theories and cute insult names aside, it's highly unlikely that Eichorst and Perlman took any action without the prior knowledge and endorsement of key alums and donors, who are, of course, fans themselves.

 

When Bo's less-than-inspiring final speech to his team went public, it wasn't Eichorst who looked bad.

I'm assuming that since Frost is actually familiar with our program, he would formulate an offense to be successful here. I'd bet that he would call plays to the strengths of his players, something that the current staff lied about doing.

Nebraska football is not unique and with good recruiting any system will succeed. The problem has been crappy recruiting by Solich and Bo. We suck because of lack of talent not scheme.

Notice the difference in the NUMBER of running vs passing plays between the two teams ?

 

 

Yes. Oregon runs pretty much the same ratio as most successful college teams.

 

It's also the same ratio Tim Beck ran when he was accused of being too pass-happy here at Nebraska.

 

Every coach wants that. But wanting a more powerful running game isn't as simple as calling more power running plays. You need a power-running offensive line and a couple more Nebraska-worthy running backs. You can wear a defense down with a power running game, but only if your own defense is good enough to let the offense be patient. Ratios get a bit skewed when you have to come from behind in the fourth quarter.

 

Chip Kelly's Oregon teams ran the ball a lot more than some folks remember, maybe because they also passed the ball liberally and took tons of risks on daring plays they generally got away with. They ran the ball, but were anything but conservative.

 

I hope Nebraska runs the ball more often next year. We'll see.

Correct

 

Both schemes call for a dual threat quarterback... a quarterback who can pass AND run. This type of offense is more difficult to defend because the defense has to account for designed quarterback running plays which means they have to account for an additional offensive threat.

 

A strong running game defeats the other team physically and mentally more than any other type of play.

 

Osborne understood that... and Frost understands it.

Yes he did, I was close enough to see the reaction on his face. Imagine a hall of famer comes back for the first time in 40 years and the crowd boos when you are introduced. He has not been back. Nebraska fans can be a$$hole$ and they were on that day and also when Eichorst was booed this year.
