TatdatN
Well their D's certainly played better against UCLA than we did, and vs Wisky than we did. I'm just drinking Koolaid for the time being. We will see. Quote Link to comment

RileyMan
Arguably Mike Riley's best friend and I can't imagine he would be anything but the DC. Many at OSU think the reason Riley was suddenly very open to the idea of taking a job elsewhere is he was pressured to fire Banker and possibly Read and even Cavanaugh. He is an extremely loyal man and believed that the struggles at OSU weren't because OSU didn't have the best coaches but rather didn't have the resources to bring in the better recruits that a place like Nebraska will give him access to.As far as Banker goes, he's a top notch DC against pro style systems but struggles MIGHTILY when the opposing offense has a mobile QB. His defenses routinely get abused by Spread systems...again the hope is that Nebraska can bring the recruits he needs to really succeed with his schemes against the spread. His defenses need big DTs, quick DEs and fast cornerbacks. Generally a gap cancellation scheme where if you have a slower DL. With fewer spread system in the Big 10 than in the PAC12, Banker should be a better than average DC and if he can find the recruits to come to Nebraska then he may turn out to be a fantastic DC. Time will tell. 2 Quote Link to comment
Dr. Strangelove
Disappointment is an understatement. The coordinators needed to be a splash hire. Somebody with experience and recruiting chops. This dude doesn't have the recruiting track record nor the results on the field. Im tired of hearing 'resources' as an excuse with this staff already. Nebraska doesn't needed to have coaches learning how to be successful with resources on the fly. They need to hire coordinators that have coached and recruited extensively at a place that had resources to begin with. 5 Quote Link to comment

People are probably just as sick of trying to defend a staff that hasn't even been hired yet.. 1 Quote Link to comment
Danny Bateman
I love how we have suddenly shifted the goalposts from "coaches learning to be coordinators on the job" to "coaches learning to be successful coordinators with resources on the job." It seems like we're always just going to find something new to complain about. We probably will. 2 Quote Link to comment

That would do the trick. 4 Quote Link to comment
StPaulHusker
If he is in fact the new DC, he deserves the first year to make it a go. Gotta be a tight leash, though with yt? He talent on defense at NU. Quote Link to comment
