In the Deed the Glory
Ok, what the hell is a defensive quality control position? GA? Video guy? Fancy name for a recruiting staff position? Quote Link to comment
Mavric
More than likely it's scouting future opponents and reporting on players/tendencies etc. I would guess that's the primary role, anyway. Possibly doing some self-scouting as well - breaking down our own film. Quote Link to comment

Chaddyboxer
To expand further...maybe consult with Mike Reily on how the defense is performing...what position groups need the most attention, down to coaches, players, etc. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
Are we adding more support staff than we have had in the past? Quote Link to comment
Ed Helms
From this Denver Post article: "But overall, a quality control assistant's job is rooted in game preparation. They usually work at least one or two weeks ahead in the regular season. They prepare the statistical analysis as well as the initial video study of upcoming opponents. The defensive quality control assistant breaks down opposing offenses, including how often they line up in specific formations and how they use various personnel groupings. He charts down-and-distance situations, field position, substitutions, etc., and then gives that report to the team's defensive staff when they begin their game planning each week during the regular season." lo country
Are we adding more support staff than we have had in the past? Wondering the same thing. Did Bo have/use this position? Does it count as a staff member? Quote Link to comment

No way did we have this. Not with some of our performances. Some games it looked like we were surprised we were playing them.......hope it pans out and we see a difference. Quote Link to comment

So no, he wouldnt be considered part of the coaching staff itself Quote Link to comment
Nuke LaLoosh
I think it's a key position. I know you have to take it one game at a time, but this position allows you to be prepared for the next game. I would assume Bo had one, but who knows. I had never heard of this position, but it makes sense for preparation. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I really like this position. Coaches focus on one game at a time but there is staff behind them working one to two weeks into the future. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
I'm assuming there will be an offensive one also. Quote Link to comment
Chaddyboxer
I like this addition. Could be very helpful in defensive preparation. Hell, hire even more assistants like this...I am game for it. Quote Link to comment
