TonyStalloni
https://hailvarsity.com/news/kenny-bell-on-keith-williams-nebraska/2015/07/ “Within the first 30 minutes of working with him, he identified every single thing I struggled with throughout my entire career,” Bell said. “Thirty minutes after that, we were fixing them.” “He’s perfect for Nebraska,” Bell said. “The fans absolutely love him and he’s got the personality for the players. He’s got the personality for this city, this state. He’s outgoing, he’s fun to be around, he’s hilarious. On top of that, he’s one of the best wide receivers coaches in the country. You put all those factors into one man and you’re going to have a successful receiving corp.” KB also stated he had nothing but respect for the former coaching staff and thanked them for getting him to the place he is now. 2 Quote Link to comment
teachercd
I am positive that the new wide receivers coach is going to be very good. I think you going to see that from the videos that he puts up. He has that type of personality that I think will pull people in. With that said he is helping Kenny Bell out in a big way here so you would imagine Kenny would be nothing but very very complementary of him. Quote Link to comment

Very telling comments IMO and not just praise as he is helping KB. Not knocking Fisher as one huge improvement was in the dropped balls area with our receivers. I think this is a statement that again shows how little experience most of the staff had in regards to development, teaching technique and to get sound fundamental execution/ Quote Link to comment
Treand3
Think you'll see better route running in general as well. Quote Link to comment
TonyStalloni
It also says a lot about KB and how he did a 180 and now embraces the new staff. Very positive for all concerned. Quote Link to comment

Scratchtown
NU just needs to make sure to pay assistants top dollar if they are that damn good. 1 Quote Link to comment

TonyStalloni
Having coaches who are desirable to other programs is a good problem to have but I agree it may be difficult to keep these guys. ADSE will need to open the checkbook. In the meantime I'll watch as our players get coached up. If TA can learn to deliver the ball and the O line can block with some regularity, this may be a special year. Quote Link to comment

I don't think there is any chance that this year becomes "special" Quote Link to comment
Dagerow
I appreciate that Bell said something that gets lost in a lot of these discussions, something I have thought a lot: you can support NU when Bo was coach and now that Riley is our coach. One doesn't have to be a bad coach for the other to be a good coach. They are not mutually exclusive. Quote Link to comment

One doesn't have to be a bad coach for the other to be a good coach. They are not mutually exclusive. Actually I think Bell is the one wrong here. NU had overwhelming fan support while Bo was here and NU has it now. The sellout streak remains. It is Bo who enjoyed popular support that declined to only minority support in the end. Maybe Kenny still does not understand that Bo ignorantly played an us against the world game with the team. There never was such a situation from the outside...not from the fans or local media, IMO. But Bo seemed to think so and he clearly acted like it was true. When it was a bit true IMO was in 2007 when some fans including me turned a bit on the team overall when some, I think, perceived some attitude and effort from PLAYERS that was unacceptable (one LB in particular can't recall his name). Actually I guess I didn't really turn on the team but I did turn on a few players plus Cally. Quote Link to comment

Actually I guess I didn't really turn on the team but I did turn on a few players plus Cally. I don't think it's very reasonable to expect the players to completely differentiate between fans still (supposedly) supporting the team while constantly belittling the head coach and coaching staff, complaining that the team can't win any games that matter, mocking them when they lose badly and even taking plenty of shots at the players - particularly Martinez but many others - albeit to a much lesser extent - including Bell. I'm not saying the vast majority of fans didn't still "support" the team - as in show up, cheer for them, follow them, etc. - but as the complaining gets louder and more frequent, it's pretty easy to think that that's all you're hearing anymore, even if it's still the minority. 1 Quote Link to comment
TonyStalloni
I think as KB enters the pro ranks he will discover that there is a small percentage of fans everywhere that can get disgruntled easily and take their frustrations out on coaches, players and organizations. My thoughts in starting this post is to acknowledge KB on his acceptance of the new staff as well as his love to the coaches that worked with him for 4 years while in Lincoln. Quote Link to comment
