With a more talented miami team last year. They lost more than we did

2008. Really wish we'd have fired Pelini sooner so we could make this turnaround quicker. We just don't have the horses at some spots and it simply wasn't being addressed by Bo.

 

This team fights like heck but not one of our better rosters.

RB is the only spot that has noticeably more talent. Ganz may have a slight edge over TA in terms of talent but not by a lot. I love the Swift-Peterson-McNeill trio but there is no way they are more talented than Westerkamp-DPE-Carter.

 

The offenses are nearly identical. A little bit here, a little bit there, the only difference. Basically a tossup.

 

Should we compare defenses? Because that's where the HUGE difference is, and it's not even close. Hence the odd votes for 2015, because that 2008 team would demolish this team.

 

What makes it even more sad is that we supposedly had a defensive genius as a head coach and he left us with little or no talent on that side of the ball.

Our DE situation is the worst I can remember. McMullen would get beaten up and sent home by those 90s teams but we have to play him because we don't have much else.

 

We can't play a 3-4 because we don't have enough LBs. We're up sh#t creek w/o a paddle on D.

What is scary is how much more difficult the schedule is next year with replacing Miami with Oregon and having to play at Wisconsin and Ohio State.

But our two biggest losses from that game were AA and RG. Our two biggest downfalls (besides the horrible pass coverage on deep balls in the first half) of this game were no run game and no pass rush. AA and RG had huge games last year against Miami. No offense to Newby and Freedom but they're huge downgrades.
