Wonder if the staff has looked at Jayme Thompson, JUCO safety from IWCC

I hope some of the staff was present when IWCC did their walk through @ NU yesterday on their way to Hutchinson.

Looks like a stud, so I'd be happy to take him. Only question, like asked, is if we're looking at CB or S. CB, hell yes, come on over. Safety... Gerry and Williams (one of them) should have that fairly locked down next season, and which ever Williams wins (I'm assuming Aaron) should hold that spot for a few years.

Have either of themselves proved they have a safe spot next year? I personally wouldn't say so.

Gerry has, and you're fooling yourself if you say no. Has he played as well this year as he did last? Nah. But he's not losing a two year starting job.

I don't think a player on a team with 3-5 wins is going to be in any position to have locked down anything, especially with the atrocious play in the secondary. In fact, Riley SHOULD open all spots. I mean how worse can it get? He needs to find the best players for his philosophy. If Gerry is it, great. If not, then this kid should have a shot.

Gerry has been terrible. Dude can't make a tackle in space and takes horrible angles.

Not playing this year to save eligibility and graduate at semester.

Pretty much down to Nebraska and Utah. Visiting Utah in two weeks then making a decision. Says if Utah's academic programs don't measure up to Nebraska's, he'll pick Nebraska. If it's close, he'll have a tough decision.

Also hearing from TCU and Oregon State.

How is he the silent commit??? He openly says he needs to go see Utah.... I highly doubt a silent commit would say I'll decide after I visit another school. I feel this silent commit thing is getting out of hand.

Possibly committed but just wants to make sure. Commit levels vary these days.

TCU offered. He'll visit this weekend. Not good for us.

Not bad either. We are the team to beat still.

Yep

Normally I get pretty worked up about something like this, but he has taken two visits. TCU offered, a school that he mentioned was already talking to him, so now he is going to visit there. I chalk this up to wanting to make sure he finds the right school for him. He may find that TCU offers a lot of the same things that Nebraska can, but I guarantee you he won't find the same game experience at TCU that he found at Nebraska vs Michigan State.

My #1 deciding factor for Neb vs TCU would be the fact that until the Big 12 has a Championship game, they will continue to get passed by for the Final 4. I'm sure many of you will disagree with that, but it would really be a factor for me.

Really, unless TCU can blow him away with academic support the way Nebraska has, he should be a Husker imo.

Utah and Nebraska are even.

I thought he said if Utah doesn't offer same academic stuff, it'll be an easy decision. He didn't mention anything about academics at Utah, just that they could get him to the NFL.

This brings me to the conclusion that he might still be living in the moment with that visit and in a week or so he may forget about Utah a bit if he is sincere about the academic side.

Deciding dec. 3

Really? Riley had two DB's drafted in the NFL last year

I think he noted Utah has been successful getting Juco guys to NFL.

..... Bruuuhhhh, Markell, you even look at Nebraska putting JUCOs into the NFL?

Shouldn't we be making a list of JUCO players that Mike Riley has gotten into the NFL? I don't see the benefit of telling JUCO's the number of players the other coach was able to get into the league.

Not whoever Utah's coach is, Utah. I think Nebraska is better.

Added TCU to the mix (with NU and Utah) after visiting this weekend. Sounds like all three are pretty even.

Riley and Banker in home Monday.
