Here's a list of individuals who were all conference and no longer on the team. Riddle me this, batman, which one is longer?

Coaches:

Kenny Bell (1st Team)

Ameer Abdullah (2nd Team)

Zaire Anderson (Honorable Mention)

Jake Cotton (Honorable Mention)

Josh Mitchell (Honorable Mention)

Media:

Randy Gregory (1st Team)

Ameer Abdullah (2nd Team)

Zaire Anderson (Honorable Mention)

Kenny Bell (HM)

Corey Cooper (Honorable Mention)

Jake Cotton (Honorable Mention)

Josh Mitchell (Honorable Mention)

Last year we had four defenders on your list. This year we have three defenders and two specialists.

We'll see how the offense comes out but that seems pretty comparable.

No my original list is not all inclusive, I only only those who are no longer with the team. Most of those awarded B1G honors this year (Collins, Gerry, Foltz) were also on last year's list.

Here's a full list of 2014

Coaches:

Kenny Bell (1st Team)

Ameer Abdullah (2nd Team)

Randy Gregory (1st Team)

Maliek Collins (2nd Team)

Zaire Anderson (Honorable Mention)

Jake Cotton (Honorable Mention)

Sam Foltz (Honorable Mention)

Nate Gerry (Honorable Mention)

Alex Lewis (Honorable Mention)

Josh Mitchell (Honorable Mention)

Offense: 4

Defense: 5 or 6 (if you include Foltz)

Media:

Randy Gregory (1st Team)

Ameer Abdullah (2nd Team)

Nate Gerry (2nd Team)

Zaire Anderson (Honorable Mention)

Kenny Bell (HM)

Maliek Collins (Honorable Mention)

Corey Cooper (Honorable Mention)

Jake Cotton (Honorable Mention)

Alex Lewis (Honorable Mention)

Josh Mitchell (Honorable Mention)

Offense: 4

Defense: 6

I would venture to guess that we have 2 individuals, maybe 3, on offense that are selected this year, so that would put us at right around half the number from last year for each side of the ball.

How do you figure half?

10/11 last year and 9 this year.

Sorry to see that Armstrong didn't get honors. He was as productive as most QBs; I think Iowa game hurt him. I would take TA over at least two of the QBs on that list.

And clearly, these honors were more about team success than individual ability, at least among the coaches. 10 of 11 offensive 1st teamers were from OSU, Michigan, MSU or Iowa. 19 of 27 first through third teamers were from one of those four schools.

Overall from the coaches:

For Iowa, 14 were at least HM.

For Michigan, 20 were at least HM... So like every starter almost???

For OSU, 18 were at least HM.

For MSU: 15 were at least HM.

Well I figured half because I didn't account for third team. Figured they're would be 1 or 2 second team or HM; I completely neglected the fact there is now 3rd team all conference. Seems a bit of an overkill to have four levels of all-conference awards.

Think your math is still off. Seems you are combining media and coaches to get a number for 2014 but only taking one of the two for 2015.

Alright, let's call it 75%. Either way, we had less award winners with more spots available. So for some, MichiganDad3 and 74Hunter, to claim we have more talent this year is asinine

Since when did we start making threads like this?

Looks like Mods/Admins have give or take 25 new threads to start in the next couple minutes if they're bringing the hammer down on posts that don't 100% adhere to an OP.

Get crackin'.

When sh#t gets this bad the tangent threads start to pop up.

The complaints have been that every thread turns into the same thing.

There are plenty of places to argue about the talent on the roster and how it's being used. A thread congratulating the players that made all-conference teams doesn't need to be another one.

I agree and apologize.

I was just tired of some dogging on the coach, with snide comments about a more talented team (which I will still adamantly defend is not the case). The old saying, two wrongs don't make a right should've been considered here. Sorry to cause the extra work, Mav. Congrats to the guys who made the team, here's to hoping we finish 2015 with a good recruiting cycle, and have a better 2016 season.

That's why the discussion just got moved. Not saying it can't continue, just doesn't have to be in certain spots. :thumbs

Then why not address all the other threads that devolve into the same arguments? Only threads "congratulating" player accomplishments are subject to having tangent posts removed?

It's nothing personal against you, Mav. I hope you know that. I'm just curious about the enforcement/application here.

No, I know exactly what you're saying. You don't know how many times over the last 3-4 months I've said "I'm really going to look for derailing/off topic posts and try to redirect them."

The problem is, when the results are as bad as they've been this year, the bad stuff is 99% of what people talk about. It's almost impossible - for me at least - to pick out a thread and say "anyone trying to bring negativity into this thread is just trolling." The All-Conference thread was one place where that was obvious.

Look at the threads that have been posted to today. There's a tread about a bowl game, another bowl thread, a Banker thread, a TA thread, a Callahan thread, a thread about a different coach people wanted instead of Riley, a thread about Accountability, a thread about a future QB, a thread about the coaches' bowl bonuses, another thread about a preferred coach, and another TA thread. Which of those threads can you really say it's out of place for someone to bring up something that didn't go very well this year? Same deal - I'm not trying to be a jerk to you, it's just really hard to say "you shouldn't be posting that here" in most of those threads.

There are a few "other" threads today - Vote 4 Ameer, a couple All-B1G threads, a LB thread, the Restaurant thread and a Piesman thread. Other than people talking about tipping at restaurants, those threads have a combined 47 replies and most of those are in the All-B1G thread where I moved the above posts from.

It's frustrating to me because I understand people who say "people are just being negative in every thread." I'd really like to be able to do something about it. The problem is the negative things are what people like to argue about and there's plenty of that to go around right now.

If I had more time to really sift through all the treads, I'm sure there are posts that could be moved. But for the most part, the line is so grey and, honestly, things start to blur together.

If anyone has a solution, I'd love to hear it. If there are off-topic posts, I guess you could reply saying you think it's off topic and a Mod could pick it up but that's going to be a lot of arguing about whether it actually is or not.

I just don't know what the solution is - other than the Huskers playing better.

Next season the goal will be to have a bowl outside of Florida or California

Next season, the goal should be to actually deserve a bowl. Not steal a "win" on a horrifically bad call and then get a bid to a bowl game out of pity. Fact is, we do NOT deserve a bowl this year. We should be more ashamed than excited. Next up: participation trophies and orange slices...count me out. Missouri is the only team with enough class to say thanks but no thanks.
