2016 Opponent Previews: Oregon

So why is Oregon a complete and total Pac-12 afterthought? We're all picking either Stanford or Washington to win the conference, it seems. Just 18 months after the Ducks made the National Championship -- a game they trailed by one point until the last play of the third quarter -- they have been relegated to getting courtesy spots deep in top 25s, if that. Athlon has the Ducks 24th, Lindy's 24th. Phil Steele has them unranked.

Have we all lost our damn minds? What gives here? A few things:

Ducks win by 20.....way too much speed for us to stop.

Heard that same statement about one of those games aganist a florida team..... How did that game turn out!!!!

That was over 20 years ago when NU actually had an abundance of team speed. Riley is recruiting more athletes, but the current roster is not there yet.

Oregon also doesn't have a QB so...

Neither does NU

Phil Steele had 2 Stanford QB's that have no experience ahead of Armstrong. He had Armstrong as the 39th best QB this year. Oregon didn't have a QB in the list, however, lets not act like because Oregon doesn't have a QB with experience (vying for the QB1 spot) coming back that they will just suck.

There has been hundreds of QB's that have had no experience come in and play well. Mariota was one of them in 2012. Only people that knew how good he was were the people in Eugene and Duck fans elsewhere.

Prukop isn't Mariota, but he's not a schmuck like Lockie was. When you have the weapons like Oregon has. You don't need to have an allstar QB to win games. Darron Thomas wasn't a great QB but he was adequate at managing the game.

Time will tell. But, everyone is totally sleeping on the Ducks, and shouldn't be. Especially because all the skill guys they have back were all on and played the majority of minutes on that national runner up.

You should probably change your avatar. Because the green colored koolaid you've been on lately is quite strong.

And for the record nobody is saying "Oregon will suck."

But ignoring the massive difference between Oregon with Adams, and without, is foolish.
