IMO, we don't know what kind of talent we have... They are young some have not even played for NU yet.

 

If you (general you) are basing your opinion on just star rankings, then ok, but that doesn't always pan out on the court.

RE: The Arop Situation

Arop is not the next Denzel Valentine. He may not even be Shavon Shields or Andrew White. He’s an undersized small forward with a shaky jump shot and a torn ACL on his record. But if there were EVER a time to stand by a promise and give a recruit the benefit of the doubt, this is it.

Arop is a solid kid whose biggest strength is competitiveness. He could walk in the door at Pinnacle Bank Arena tomorrow and crack Nebraska’s rotation, partly because Nebraska’s rotation isn’t very good.

Miles has given multiple scholarships to kids who couldn’t play Big Ten basketball, several of whom remained on the roster after it was clear they wouldn't contribute, a few of whom are slated to be on the team at least two more years.

Yet THIS is the time to hold a prospect to a higher standard?

Yeah, I'm not much of a Dirk fan. And perhaps he's being too harsh. But I think he's right about the team that Miles has this year. And I think it's entirely possible that Miles could be gone before Arop graduates.

I'm not a Dirk fan either. I think him and Bahe have the reactionary, hot-take market cornered in Omaha media. He's not necessarily wrong, though.

Dirk right more often than he's wrong, but he gets crazy sometimes. He's a good writer and we're lucky to have him in Nebraska, even if I do disagree with his takes and his habit of riling up Husker fans.
