AFhusker
Let's get this out of the way first. Was this game against UCLA ever one that Nebraska was going to win? No. Okay? Glad we got that out of the way. Because the fact that this was a game that Nebraska had no chance of being in makes the fact that Nebraska was in this game throughout all the more impressive and positive. Like NUance alluded to above, we're finally seeing a "team" effort as opposed to the efforts of a single star player. We're seeing everyone drive to the hoop instead of just Pettaway or Shields. UCLA was averaging 104 points per game and came away with 83 thanks to late free throws. Nebraska had it down to a 2-point game deep into the second half against the 14th best team in the country. Let's hope they can keep this kind of play up, because if they do, they could make some waves in the Big 10. Although we're going to have to figure out what to do against a zone. You are right about that. The ball movement at times was horrendous and that is because we really don't have any legit scorers. It seems like we are a better team than last year with very good defense, but we are going to have to find a way to score points if we are going to make any noise in Conference play. It'sNotAFakeID
70-80 should be good in conference play. Heck, 65 might be good some nights. Quote Link to comment
84HuskerLaw
We didn't join the Big Ten to win BB games people! In fact, we should have dropped men's BB altogether instead of building the new arena. Nebraska has NEVER won anything in BB since the game was invented a hundred years ago and the chances of winning a conferene championship, for example, now are less than NONE. They need to schedule another 8 non-con games vs. D3 teams etc so that the overall record looks better. Unfortunately, we joined the Big Ten to win football games and look how that turned out. LOL Best laid plans! Quote Link to comment
Hayseed
Nobody knows the final score? I went to bed around midnight and we were trailing. From what I saw we looked pretty good athletically, just not consistent shooters. Many open looks that were rushed and didn't go down. I think our team will do well this year, probably a better team than the last few years if they can each figure out what they do best and stick to it.Final score.........UCLA-82----NEB-71Not bad.....we were in range to win that one if the open shots had gone in and UCLA certainly is no slouch. Mavric
Pleasantly surprised by how the rest of the game went. Sure seemed like we were letting it slide away to end the first half. Down 11 when I turned it off and lost by 11. Biggest problem is roster balance. Watson is apparently a stud. I've always been impressed at how he takes care of the ball but now he's really scoring as well. And Webster continues to be a solid #2 scoring option. But after that ... yikes. Yesterday players not named Watson or Webster were a combined 11 for 41 (26.8%) with 1 assist. Need a little more help. Quote Link to comment
Hayseed
I'm impressed with the entire team effort and feel like they'll keep getting better with time. We've had some good solo players the last few years, but these guys all contribute. Now if we just get the open shots to fall. Quote Link to comment

ScottyIce
Damn, felt like we couldn't get into the flow today at all. What a shame. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
It's tough to get into a flow when you don't run an offense. 1 Quote Link to comment

Why do you think you get to bitch about Jacobson jacking up 3s?? Not a lot of options when the ball is in your hands and the shot clock has been bled dry by dribbling guards 1 Quote Link to comment
