Red Five
I had to click on the link to make sure that a US Senator said that and not just a Alabama State Senator. But yes, a sitting US Senator said that. 2 Link to comment
NM11046
I'd agree it's a biblical miracle, but more of the kind that teaches a lesson and ends poorly. 3 Link to comment
zoogs
To be fair, he was only appointed to the seat vacated by AG Sessions and may even lose to a Republican Party challenger in a coming election... Lawmakers running for the Senate seat include Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), who in his campaign has said he will shut down the government in order to obtain funding for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border. The wall had been a signature campaign promise of Trump during his presidential bid. Brooks also attended the forum, along with several other candidates running for the Senate seat. Brooks has slammed Strange as “an establishment Republican” who is backed by "pro-Amnesty establishment money.” So hey, we could wind up with that guy instead. Link to comment

After the softball shooting, Brooks also called for members of Congress to be able to pack heat at the Capitol. 1 Link to comment

Moiraine
Hard to imagine the Party of Reagan with these polling numbers. https://twitter.com/Evan_McMullin/status/884882476551872512 I wonder what these pulls would have said in 2015. I think the Republican #s would be significantly lower and the Democrat #s slightly higher. Link to comment
Moiraine
Senator King from Iowa wants to use food stamp $ to pay for the wall. More and more it's hard not to think of Republican politicians as a bag of d**ks. 1 Link to comment

knapplc
King is a special breed all to his own. Is he? Or is he just saying things publicly that Republicans think privately? Because their voting records show they're not differently aligned than King. 4 Link to comment
Danny Bateman
King is an embarrassing piece of trash that uses controversial statements like this every once in a while to bolster his profile. Steve King on DREAMers: "Some of them are valedictorians, and their parents brought them in. For everyone who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert." Steve King on our civilization: “Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny,” King wrote. “We can’t restore our civilization with somebody else’s babies.” ....... "This 'old white people' business does get a little tired, Charlie," King said. "I'd ask you to go back through history and figure out, where are these contributions that have been made by these other categories of people that you're talking about, where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?" There's a reason our shared high school doesn't make a big deal out of the fact he went there. But they sure as hell reelect him every year. Sadly, his Democratic challenger this year was getting death threats and dropped out. Link to comment
