knapplc
The abortion debate is the gift that keeps on giving to Republicans. Using that as his only argument against Doug Jones, this guy writing for The Federalist says that all Roy Moore's ills should be ignored and he is the right person to vote for. Quote Why Alabamians Should Vote For Roy Moore Here is one thing we know and should admit from the start: in his early thirties, Moore had a penchant for dating teenagers. Apparently, this was not an uncommon occurrence during this time. In fact, this practice has a long history and is not without some merit if one wants to raise a large family. To have a large family, the wife must start having kids when she is young. The husband needs to be well-established and able to support the family, in which case he will typically need to marry when older. Consider Keith Burgess-Jackson’s (philosophy professor at UT Arlington) account of his own grandparents: This is not The Onion. This is real life. And apparently such arguments are working. Roy Moore, despite allegations of pedophilia, is leading the polls. Link to comment

zoogs
Folks like McCain, Murkowski, Collins, they all need to be voted out of office. Remember who they are at heart. A lot of the reaction to McCain's dramatic announcement that he's a "YES" on this godawful tax bill implies he's lying when he says he has "carefully considered" it, because of course, it's not possible to have carefully evaluated the bill. But I think we need to take McCain at his word. Something like this is obviously the sort of lifelong dream for he and others of his putrid Republican ilk. It's both completely clear and utterly unsurprising that they would prioritize this over the "concerns" they'll teeth-gnash about for a while before getting over it...and that they aren't really all that bothered about the details so much as the spirit of upward wealth transfer and corporate favoritism. zoogs
@BigRedBuster, just saw this on the author of that article you posted: - PhD in philosophy from Purdue University - Asst Professor of Philosophy at Ouchita Baptist University in Arkansas - Wrote this column for The Federalist, one of those good old-fashioned, venerable conservative publications at the opposite end of the spectrum as Breitbart. The nature of the conservative intellectual movement in America, hoo boy. Edited November 30, 2017 by zoogs Link to comment
