To add to this discussion on numbers: Guys that played RB in high school often play somewhere else in college. I don't know what Frost's plans are for having guys change position, but getting more athletes in is really vital.

Fwiw, I don't think 3 is too many to take this year if they're the right guys. The biggest concern is balancing roster numbers if you take that many, not so much distributing carries in this offense.

I think the biggest thing Frost wants is versatility. Having RBs that can split out wide and WRs that can take handoffs. These type of abilities allow the scheme to work without a lot of substitutions and truly make everyone a threat to move the ball.

I also agree that three RBs this cycle are ok, if it's Grayson, Johnson and Bivens. This systems spreads the carries out and not one back gets a lionshare. Taking three would allow Held to invest in swinging for a top 100-150 type player in '20.

Good grab. Thought he'd post a faster 40 than 4.69. Really like his burst though.

Reggie Davis is so confused right now. He operated under the impression you could only recruit one RB at a time, now we've got 4 in 2 classes.

He ran an electronic 4.54 in the 40 at The Opening regionals last year.  This year he ran a 4.62 but quit after that because of a bum wheel.

Has run a wind-aided 10.5 100 meters this spring along with a 21.4 200.

Considering graduating in December to enroll early.

Most of the good recruits leave Jersey and we used to get our share of them. Hopefully Johnson is the beginning of big things.

His personal rating is the same.  So other guys have jumped over him pushing him down the list.

So it's safe to say that the other guys played a game in the past 7 months ???

People go to camps all the time. If they impress they get a bump.

You are right, but it seem silly for RB's.  No better way to evaluate a RB than to watch him play catch in his underwear at a camp.

Not saying this is the reason, but he ran slower than people thought he would at camp.

His sparq score is a 4.54. Pretty solid time.  Has to have a very good top end with his 100 and 200 times.

I'd be curious to when that sparq time was ran, that is fast. He ran a 4.69 at a rivals camp beginning of May.

He ran it last year at The Opening regionals.

I see. Still wouldn't be surprised if that more recent 4.69 at the Rivals camp has some scratching their head.

Like I said, I don't know that it's the reason....just throwing out thoughts.

Johnson or Tompkins would be a great change of pace back to bell and Washington . Hope Washington makes it. Frost ain't playing around at getting running backs.

Johnson had a great game in their win (34-22) over Grayson.  He had 28 carries for 129 yards and 2 tds.

Grayson's defense is considered one of the best in the nation.   9 players on that defense are committed to or have offers from P5 schools.

Sounds like he creased then a few times. He keeps this up and a rating bump is a given.

The Nebraska running back commit showed why he was a prime target for Scott Frost and company, flashing his speed and also a fair bit of toughness for a player his size. Johnson isn't afraid to run between the tackles and is tough to bring down when he gets out in space. He broke a pair of long runs in the game and is similar to players Frost has featured in his offenses at Oregon and UCF in the past. He's listed as an all-purpose back and is likely to get the ball in his hands a variety of different ways at the next level.
