The P&R Plague Thread (Covid-19)

Recommended Posts

This still needs to go through human trials but it looks promising.  Hopefully it'll get proper funding but I wouldn't count on it.

Our results show that sCPD9 vaccination elicited the most robust immunity, including rapid viral clearance, reduced tissue damage, fast differentiation of pre-plasmablasts, strong systemic and mucosal humoral responses, and rapid recall of memory T cells from lung tissue after challenge with heterologous SARS-CoV-2. Overall, our results demonstrate that live-attenuated vaccines offer advantages over currently available COVID-19 vaccines.

The American Board of Ophthalmology link clearly demonstrates he was board certified from 1995-2005. He chose not to recertify in 2005, because it is just a money grab.

Did the poster ever retract her statements on this or did she just move on?  Curious cause she was quite certain about others not understanding how Boards work.

For those postulating that the reason China has been less than open about their investigations into the origins of Covid means they are covering up for a lab leak need to understand how powerful "losing face" is in eastern cultures. It drives nearly every decision.  For the CCP, not being able to control the illegal animal trade in the Wuhan market is enough of a "lose face" situation that they'd try to cover it up and make the claim that the source came from outside the Wuhan wet market.

Lol.... Now we're posting conclusions from the Chinese government and deciding to believe them over western scientists because?

LOL….no, what we are doing is providing more data for public consumption.   Would you care to scrutinize this data that was put out and how that data was used in a paper near and dear to your heart.

As a guy who conceived a child after multiple vaccine doses, I can confirm that last part isn't true lol

Right there with you brother. Whish there was more research on how potent big Pharma wants to make you.

I'll wait until a consensus of credible scientists draw a final conclusion on the origins of Covid rather than that of the Chinese CDC.  What's being twisted in all of this by the most ignored poster on the board is that no one here has drawn any conclusions, so claiming that they have is predictably dishonest.

You have to wonder what the failed dunk was all about earlier today when you actually sit down and take a look at what most actual scientists are saying at this point and not some right-wing hack from the National Review and some guy he dredged up from Florida of all places.

The bottom line is everything still points to a zoonotic spillover and not a lab leak but we've yet to arrive at anything that is 100% conclusive.

The findings support the natural-origin hypothesis, says a researcher who was not involved in either study and wishes to remain anonymous owing to the controversy surrounding COVID-origins work. The presence of many wild-animal species means that a viral spillover that resulted in the COVID-19 pandemic could have occurred, says the scientist. Some of those species, such as raccoon dogs, have the potential to transmit SARS-CoV-2 infections, the source adds."

“The extent of circumstantial evidence [in the latest paper] is greater than one can find for the alternate hypothesis, which is that it leaked from a laboratory"

The study also offers clues about the role of the market in the pandemic’s origin. In the early weeks of the outbreak, two lineages of SARS-CoV-2 — dubbed A and B — were circulating. Initially, tests identified only lineage B at the market. This led some researchers to conclude that the market might have acted only as a site for an early ‘superspreader’ event, rather than as a site of an animal spillover, because lineage A is thought to be more ancestral.

But the China CDC’s preprint posted last year identified lineage A in one sample. “It’s the result that really made me shift, that made me really say,

‘Okay, it's very likely to come from the market’,” says Debarre. But she says that some questioned whether the result was real. The new analysis confirms the presence of lineage A, addressing those doubts, she says.

This narrative that the scientists got COVID all wrong and Dr. Fauci needs to be held accountable is just plain stupid.

Stupid people can believe it and follow the stupid people who spout it, but they should be required to take ALL their health directives from equally stupid influencers based on equally stupid evidence.

Well unless the reason for being skeptical is stupid. For example, I know a guy who is skeptical that the holocaust actually even happened. That would be considered stupid skepticism.

Being skeptical in a science based or medical based discussion is many times a good thing until the discussion is proven out.

P.S. I wouldn’t hang out with that guy
