TBA TBA Sat, Nov 17 Michigan State Lincoln, Neb. TBA TBA Fri, Nov 23 @ Iowa Iowa City, Iowa TBA TBA This is our 2018 schedule. I keep hearing this is a buzz saw. I don't see it that way right now. WE get some decent recruiting and get Frost on board by the first of the year, I think we can win 7 or 8 games next season. Akron, Colorado, Troy, Purdue, Minnesota, Illinois are locks. Michigan St is a home game. 7 wins right there. I guess I don't see why our schedule is any worse next season than it was this season? Michigan won't be as good as Penn St was this season. Wisconsin is the same team each season, and Ohio St won't have some key players returning. Quote Link to comment
runningblind
Could be, but it depends on a lot of things. Just very unknown right now. For example, who plays QB? Quote Link to comment

For example, who plays QB? Yes we have a long ways to go before we worry about next season, but until we even have a coach in place I thought this was worth a good hard look at just what our schedule was like. I think we can get by with POB or Gebbia, no matter what the system is next season. Hoping that we can recruit a stud dual threat guy yet, but if not, we have options. We shouldn't forget 5th year transfers either. I am sure that there are some seniors that will be looking to play one more year. Russel Wilson types. Quote Link to comment

Husker NoNo
Regardless of who is the coach, just be competitive and get to a bowl game. That will show progress. People expecting too many wins is a blueprint for disaster. 1 Quote Link to comment

Why is it being stated that no matter who coaches our schedule is brutal? I can see us winning 7-9 games just based on what I saw this season from those other teams. Quote Link to comment
Husker NoNo
Akron - W Colorado - W (but no way as guaranteed as people would like) Troy - W @Michigan - L Purdue - W (will be very close) @Wisconsin - L @Northwestern - L Minnesota - W @Ohio State - L Illinois - W Michigan State - L @Iowa - L 6-6 and it would be a great season. 6 Quote Link to comment
Scarlet Overkill
I also dont know why this is such a killer schedule compared to any other year. Quote Link to comment

Old Nebraska Guy
Maybe...Maybe Not Akron - Current MAC Division Champ. Finished ahead of N. Illinois Colorado - 2016 P-12 Division Champ. Slumped this year to 5-7. Do they rebound or stay down? Troy - Current Sun Belt Champ. @Michigan - 2016 team had like 11 guys drafted. "Reloading" didn't go as smoothly as the media predicted. Lot of guys back for next year. Purdue - New coach got them bowl eligible this year. Trending up. @Wisconsin - Is Wisconsin @Northwestern - Good this year has trouble being good two years in a row. Minnesota - Beat us like a drum this year. Will PJ improve the team next year or is he a "smoke and mirrors" coach? @Ohio State - Their freshman, second or third team QB lead them to a victory over Michigan yesterday. I think they will have plenty of talent next year. Illinois - They just aren't very good. Michigan State - could be scary good next year. @Iowa - ??? We should do better, but haven't. Excel
That's a brutal conference schedule. Akron - Win Colorado - Win Troy - Toss Up @Michigan - Loss Purdue - Win @Wisconsin - Loss @Northwestern - Toss Up Minnesota - Win @Ohio State - Loss Illinois - Win Michigan State - Toss Up @Iowa - Toss Up Anywhere from 4-8 to 8-4. Gage County
If the bar is .500 and bowl eligible, the schedule is manageable. If the bar is a division title, it becomes a buzzsaw. The Sker's have 4 games against top contenders (UM, MSU, tOSU, and Wis), Wisconsin has only 2 (UM, PSU). 2 Quote Link to comment
Nebfanatic
I think bowl eligibility is the minimum bar. We have the talent to do that for sure. If we can get there that has to be considered improvement in year 1. Can we do better? Yes, but it will be tough. How good is Frost? We out talent everybody on paper besides 2 games (recruiting rankings) so theoretically we have the horses. But we see how that's worked for us since joining this conference, we need to be a well coached unit more than anything else right now. If Scott can achieve that I could see a 9 win season. Redux
I fully expect tOSU and Michigan to both have bad years next season. Quote Link to comment
