  4. One thing I'd like to highlight as a difference to last year is how wide our offense was this weekend. Everything played very narrow last year and it led to stacked boxes and defenders jumping routes. One play I think highlights how good Dylan is was his first TD to Bonner. Bonner is playing in "big slot' role as the 3rd receiver to that side. He runs a corner route with the two outside receivers running double ins which against man coverage are designed to hold the safety in the middle of the field. Bonner runs a really good route to create separation and Raiola throws a perfect ball with anticipation and placement so the defender has no chance. I think this is one of those plays that Raiola almost hurts his own hype because he makes that throw look so easy. He's on about the 23 yard line throwing to the right pylon....from the left hash mark. That's a very difficult throw to make and far more difficult than it is at the pro level because the narrow hash marks effectively make the field play narrower at the pro level. Lastly, other than being a great throw, why do I choose this play, in particular, as someone that is excited about what I saw this spring? Because last year we threw picks with this play. In particular, it's the play that cost us the Maryland game. Now, I didn't love the play call in that situation because we're on the 7, throwing to the short side of the field so everything is more condensed and that helps the CB drop off his man to intercept the pass. But the biggest culprit is we ran that route a little too flat and Purdy drastically under threw the ball. If he throws that ball more towards the back corner it's either a TD or we're attempting a chip shot for the lead. Not only did we see that same play, executed and called so much better in the spring game, but we saw that same scenario. Dylan threw two passes in a row towards the end zone on a drive where it was either our ball or no ones. We missed the FG attempt, unfortunately, but we gave ourselves the chance that we so often didn't last year. I hope anybody that thinks the spring game doesn't matter will read this and see how we're taking the same scenarios, even the same plays, that cost us games last year and executing at a much higher level this year.
  5. I'm totally fine with the off season koolaid and optimism. I just think HH still has a large part to play this season.
  6. His only really bad throw was the INT, and that was only because he broke a cardinal rule of Quarterbacking on top of staring down the receiver he was throwing to. His major downfall is that he's not Dylan.
  7. I completely agree. Everything is theoretical and football is impossible to predict. But for the sake of off-season message board banter, what do you imagine to be more likely to happen? Dylan starts next year and craps the bed so tragically that we’re all reminded of Jeff Sims, or Dylan starts and our offense takes a big step forward?
  8. His flight into Lincoln got diverted to Omaha Friday because of the storms. Then they got stuck in Omaha. So he didn't get to campus as early as he was supposed to. Liked the look of the offense and the line.
  9. We are recruiting him as a WR. Has OVs set to Oregon and Texas A&M in May/June.
  10. DR will start in 2024. We will throw better and score more. Frankenstein was our quarterback last year. Got us 5 wins.
  11. Please Football gods, let this happen during the season.
  12. B- is about as good of a grade as I've seen for the Broncos. But he only gave out two grades lower than that. And they were both C+. So apparently he thinks everyone did great.
  13. You should share the public held debt percentage of GDP. It still paints a not pretty picture, but doesn't try to go for shock value with a mostly meaningless number/chart. If US voters were less stupid and less insane, and maybe if there were term limits, maybe this would be addressed someday. For example the Democrats could make changes to Welfare, or the Republicans could make changes to the stupid farm subsidies (like field corn) and oil subsidies, without people having an irrational cow.
  14. I'm with you on this. Nebraska has a lot of pieces, but it remains to be seen how Nebraska can move the football without the QB run game. Nebraska's offense for most of the last 5 years has been option football - with the exception being Casey Thompson chucking the ball to Trey Palmer. The RBs are all serviceable but not amazing. The OL was actually a very improved unit last year but still had moments of struggling. And our WR room is largely unknown -- we didn't have the QB to throw WRs the ball to see what they can actually do. All of this doesn't mean that Nebraska is going to be bad on offense. But let's not act like there aren't questions to how effective they will be, particularly with Satterfield calling plays... who struggled to say the least.
  15. Will depend on pass protection which hopefully is better. I know DR won’t run much. And HH seems to have learned to stay in the pocket unless all his passing options aren’t open.
  16. I appreciate the perspective and don't disagree. But regardless who starts, I doubt they'll make it the whole season. It'd be awesome if they stayed healthy, but we've had 3 starting QB's for at least the last 5 seasons, maybe longer.
  17. Maybe I can best sum up my point by saying: everyone has a plan until you get hit in the mouth. Everything you're saying is theoretical until we play some decent teams. DR might look fantastic right now and then fall apart in game situations (aka Jeff Sims). Or he gets hurt and it's next man up. There's so many variables in football, it's impossible to predict.
  18. Chicago - Caleb Wiliams AND Rome Odunze It feels that good.... I'm super happy!
  19. Is Bell's injury an acl or worse? Is he out for the season? When I say worse I mean mcl injury involved on top of acl?
  20. Sneaky good indeed, Sensei... Hai!
  21. Sorry Homie... We are usually pretty good with the puck into the net thing. Except in OT and Conference Finals
  22. I forget, is Joe's brother or son working in his administration?
