  1. When they said they were going to try to match their offense to Armstrong's talents, I think they meant handing the ball to Ameer Abdullah. Tommy was a running threat last year because defenders on read plays absolutely had to key on Abdullah. Since Ameer graduated, and we didn't have a baller to fill his shoes, I would imagine the coaching staff didn't see the zone read game as a steady source of offense. As a result, they had to make due with Tommy's talent as a passer, which isn't much.
  2. Iowa fans are like a bunch of Nouveau Riche a-holes that despite great new wealth have chosen to take a bus trip to Vegas. I'm not saying we can beat them, but it appears that that the tables are set for an epic let down. I'm being forced to watch the game with a several cocky teenage Iowa fans. I'll hold off on smothering them with dirty pillows until the game is over. We win and they get smothered for their cockiness or we lose and they get smothered for being a-holes.
  3. The picture of Aaron Williams mentions something about support staff as he's running next to a short guy in yellow jersey. Who are these support staff? Are they students that fill in bodies for practice?
  4. That's a good one. I have 3 kids and none of them have been smacked on the rear. These are also good: "It’s like cooking a turkey for every Thanksgiving and then serving up savory prime rib or seeing a peacock working a power drill." "This dynamic duo has the potential to take a comically oversized mallet to them like something straight out of Looney Tunes." My thought in response to this article: It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing.
  5. Interesting stat! No "Sea of Red" has engulfed this stadium Since 1986? So who on here is going to re-christen the place? What a cute, little stadium.
  6. The biggest change in this defense for the worse is for cornerbacks. Everyone else is playing more down hill and being asked to do less thinking. The CB are being asked to do less thinking, but a lot more physically. They are being asked to be true cover corners without much help. Davie has played poorly there is no question about that, but there job description has changed completely and they have played some Pretty good WR and QB's to date. BYU had very tall good hands decent speed WR and 2 good QB's S. Alabama had that one good receiver who was a transfer from Alabama and that QB could really throw the deep fade. Miami Kaaya and his WR are the most talented group they will see this year. Rob Zatechka on his pod cast that said was the most physically talented team he has seen in a long time. We won't see QB/WR talent like this until the MSU game, and they aren't as talented as Miami. S. Miss will throw the rock around some also, but I think we will see some better execution. The secondary will get better with more reps, it will just take some time. I would rather give up 300 yards a game passing than 200 a game rushing. ok. i'll bookmark this for after the game on saturday. i might just do a play by play breakdown of pass plays during that game. I can't wait to see this.
  7. I wonder what it would look like to play Janovich at Linebacker or DE. I saw some of those collisions - they were amazing. On a side note, judging from Andy's pregame ritual of headbutting and overall desire for contact, I would put him as a good candidate for CTE.
  8. If he said he didn't like the throw, then I'd agree with him. Allen was open in the end zone. It's like it was designed that the out was Tommy throws it high and wide and its incomplete. Obviously he didn't and here we are talking about it.
  9. This stuff is great. I love how arguments develop and the thread devolves into a couple "ships passing in the night" arguments. I question the original post - is our defense that easy to figure out just by watching Nate Gerry?
  10. Get this garbage out of here. If you're not a season ticket holder, what does it matter to you?
  11. Missouri's own players didn't think that was true. And...lets not forget Chase Daniel eats boogers:
  12. I didn't realize FAU had 5 turnovers. Jesus. FAU averaged 6.8 ypc v. Miami's 5.8. I think we walk out of there with a win.
  13. I think this game comes down to the running game. If we can get some yards on the ground and can stop Miami like we have against BYU and USA, I think we come home with a W.
  14. Where did this KazLong dude go? It was just getting good. With the name Kaz in his handle, I'm not surprised someone jumped him for his comments. When he says "brother in law" I bet he means his wife. And when he says "private conversation" I bet he means public domestic abuse. And when he says "threats of physical violence" I bet he means a bystander prevented him from slapping his wife around in public. Anyway, someone mentioned the real reason Solich was fired. I have not heard this story - anyone willing to share?
  15. He's gone. The comments he made about being confused about how he fits in this offense considering how many pro style QB's Riley has recruited in the past are troublesome.
  16. It wasn't a dive. It was a bit of an awkward jump as he was trying to make sure he caught it. The thing about Jordan that sets him apart and makes him very good as a receiver is that he's able to get a conscious read/react on a situation extremely quickly, which is rare in athletics, which are very instinctual. The jump was kind of funny because he had the thought of needing to make sure he was across the goal line, so he tried shortening his body as much as possible. He might not have thought all those things through in his head, but his brain was able to actually make sense of them in real time. Players like that are often the best playmakers because the majority of their competitions' brains don't work like that. That's some Malcolm Gladwell type sh#t.
  17. I think that analysis is spot on. The key differentiation is Bray. From what I've heard his coaching is on point, the players love him, and he knows his stuff. Yeah the group is thin but I think starting a true freshman at linebacker points to the confidence of the unit. I don't believe it's a situation where they're reluctantly starting Young - I think they're saying "this dude's a baller and we need him on the field." That's directly attributable to Bray being a baller, himself.
  18. Did I read this correctly that BYU wont suspend their players until after the NU game?
  19. A massive portion of the fan base, the hundreds of players who've worn a Blackshirt over the past five decades, all the coaches involved in the defense over the past 50 years, legions local and national media... Aside from that... nobody. My point was that the kids that got them deserve them. What does it matter when they're handed out. It's like if you don't agree when the jerseys were handed you, you don't believe the players deserve them. The missing piece of your comment is that the only ones who can comment on the matter reliably are the players who wore them and the coaches that handed them out. Lets just play some football!
  20. Look the guys that got the blackshirts are ballers. I don't understand why there is any disagreement about this topic. Who really gives a sh#t when the blackshirts are handed out? If I were a new coach in a program with the tradition of Nebraska, I'd want to inspire some swag in my starting 11. Look at the looks on their faces - they're ready to play.
  21. lol. Here are 19 programs that would come in before BYU in any list. And I'm not including the recent risers like Oregon, Wisconsin, Baylor, and Michigan St. Nebraska Michigan Ohio St Penn St Oklahoma Texas Alabama Auburn LSU Texas A&M Florida Georgia Tennessee Florida St Miami Clemson USC UCLA Notre Dame I'm sure a big reason BYU isn't included is due to religious bigotry. And it has nothing to do with mainly playing in a conference that contained Colorado St, Air Force, SDSU, and Wyoming for the majority of the last 40 years. It should be. Their religion is a joke. Listen to a Mormon really explain what they believe and it's hard to listen without thinking "how are you not laughing at this?"
