Crazy. Mens 1000m long track speedskating- difference between 1st and 9th is only .82 seconds. 1:08.39 to 1:09.21. Not much room for error IMO.

I guess that's kind of my point. The start, every single stride, the condition of the ice at every point of interaction....there is more to getting on the podium in many of these events. It's not necessarily who is the best or who has trained the best. Its a measurement at one point in time and could be different only ten minutes later or earlier.

He just didn't have it today, it was obvious. The start and first 200m were good, but beyond that, the next gear was just missing. He said he was feeling good and all, so I'm guessing it was a mental/focus issue. One he probably wasn't even aware of. It sucks, but that's how top tier sports go...even the best have off days, and just hope it doesn't come on a competition day.

My son actually did inline ss for a couple years. Won his usars regional and went to nationals in, you guessed it, Lincoln NE at Pershing aud. We've had a strong interest in the sport ever since. Of all his hockey medals and trophies, I think he is most proud of his gold (boys single) and bronze (mixed doubles) from that regional. I think our region was like 8-10 states. Sorry, had to brag a bit.

Went dancing the other night. When the band played "shout", I would shout. When the band played "jump", I jumped. When the band played "come on Eileen", I got escorted out.

Cheesey hashbrown potato casserole will surely be a factor of my demise.

It's not often but every once in awhile you'll run across a thread that renews your hope for humanity. Some of you HBers are really good guys (and gals).

Love me some short track speed skating. Really like it when the Koreans lose.

I guess I expected womens Olympic hockey to be a little more advanced.. Looks eerily similar to when my son played bantams.

Happy Birthday to HB's scourge of Jersey, the Dakota kid, the one and only Mr. Walksalone. Have a good one buddy.

But February made me shiver.

This might be the most wintery day I've experienced living in northern Colorado for 28 years. It is just bleeeech out there.

Make it stop. Walking off the field and quitting would be less embarrassing at this point.

This is not going well.....at all. I really thought the seahawks would be the ones to fold on the big stage. Broncos need to get their sh#t together.

I also want to thank everyone for the starting lineup position and a blackshirt defensive position to boot. I'm gonna have to start getting in shape. I hope our corners are good cuz I'm gonna struggle with anything other than run support. Maybe carl will have me run blitz every down....

Me and Guy really crave kicked up bold flavos. Need to take it out of bounds. All it really takes is the magic of chipotle peppers, bacon, garlic, or cheese to drive it to flavor town, you guys.

Yes, it is true, I do all my own stunt work.

Captain Phillips is a really good movie, you guys.

Almost halfway through the dadboner posts. The guy is either a comedic genius or a clueless deadbeat, I'm not exactly sure which yet, but my money is on the former for now.

Hit the 'bees with the fam tonight. Really socked away some bold flavors, you guys. Blackened sirloin with garlic green beans. BOLD. Bonus- got to take in some chest beefers. Way to start the weekend right, you guys.

"Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

I don't say these things because I believe in the ‘brute' nature of men or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour -- his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear -- is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious."

Getting our hardwood floors sanded and refinished. Pretty much a pain in the arse. All our exterior doors exit on wood floor areas. Have to use a ladder through a window for the next three days. Might've been fun twenty years ago.

So pumped. Big game calls for big beers. That's why I got the 40's, you guys.

Wonderful, the beginning of a new club volleyball season. Headed down to the Springs this afternoon so we can get up bright and early Sunday for some vball at Ft Carson HS.
