  1. Crazy. Mens 1000m long track speedskating- difference between 1st and 9th is only .82 seconds. 1:08.39 to 1:09.21. Not much room for error IMO.

I guess that's kind of my point. The start, every single stride, the condition of the ice at every point of interaction....there is more to getting on the podium in many of these events. It's not necessarily who is the best or who has trained the best. Its a measurement at one point in time and could be different only ten minutes later or earlier.

He just didn't have it today, it was obvious. The start and first 200m were good, but beyond that, the next gear was just missing. He said he was feeling good and all, so I'm guessing it was a mental/focus issue. One he probably wasn't even aware of. It sucks, but that's how top tier sports go...even the best have off days, and just hope it doesn't come on a competition day.

My son actually did inline ss for a couple years. Won his usars regional and went to nationals in, you guessed it, Lincoln NE at Pershing aud. We've had a strong interest in the sport ever since. Of all his hockey medals and trophies, I think he is most proud of his gold (boys single) and bronze (mixed doubles) from that regional. I think our region was like 8-10 states. Sorry, had to brag a bit.

  2. Went dancing the other night. When the band played "shout", I would shout. When the band played "jump", I jumped. When the band played "come on Eileen", I got escorted out.

  3. Cheesey hashbrown potato casserole will surely be a factor of my demise.

And, as much as I was inspired by the "salad in a jar" in the recipe section, that's not it.

  5. Love me some short track speed skating. Really like it when the Koreans lose.

  6. I guess I expected womens Olympic hockey to be a little more advanced.. Looks eerily similar to when my son played bantams.

    1. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

That might have been a bit premature and harsh. The US team looks better than that and Finlands goalie is decent but Finlands forwards...bantam level was being kind.

A decent Canadian high school team could beat any women's team on the planet.

    3. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

I think I would agree with that. My son quit playing at about 15 yrs old and his last team woulda beat the Finland olympic team. #notevencanadian

A balmy -10 in Northern Idaho right now. I'm as naked as the day I was born. Bring on the frost bite.

  10. Make it stop. Walking off the field and quitting would be less embarrassing at this point.

  11. This is not going well.....at all. I really thought the seahawks would be the ones to fold on the big stage. Broncos need to get their sh#t together.

It ended up only 5", woulda shut down Georgia for a week, but no big deal.

  14. I also want to thank everyone for the starting lineup position and a blackshirt defensive position to boot. I'm gonna have to start getting in shape. I hope our corners are good cuz I'm gonna struggle with anything other than run support. Maybe carl will have me run blitz every down....

I don't know if we're even going to play the games. Definitely not going to waste time scrimmaging. Nothing but conditioning. Conditioning all day. Every day.

  16. Me and Guy really crave kicked up bold flavos. Need to take it out of bounds. All it really takes is the magic of chipotle peppers, bacon, garlic, or cheese to drive it to flavor town, you guys.

  21. "Winning is not a sometime thing; it's an all the time thing. You don't win once in a while; you don't do things right once in a while; you do them right all of the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.

It is a reality of life that men are competitive and the most competitive games draw the most competitive men. That's why they are there - to compete. The object is to win fairly, squarely, by the rules - but to win.

    3. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

And in truth, I've never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn't appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something in good men that really yearns for discipline and the harsh reality of head to head combat.

    4. JJ Husker

      JJ Husker

I don't say these things because I believe in the ‘brute' nature of men or that men must be brutalized to be combative. I believe in God, and I believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man's finest hour -- his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear -- is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle - victorious."

  22. Getting our hardwood floors sanded and refinished. Pretty much a pain in the arse. All our exterior doors exit on wood floor areas. Have to use a ladder through a window for the next three days. Might've been fun twenty years ago.

Thx. Our region plays at locations on the front range, ranging from ft collins throughout denver and down to the springs. We're on the north end of that yet have played 80% in the springs or south denver. Don't want to whine, but I will.
