  1. just to be clear, i am not calling for his head. all i said is that if we beat top teams, i would be less upset if we occasionally lost to an inferior opponent. now, technically the inferior losses would hurt more, perhaps, because more would be at stake and we would have more to lose. but still, it is getting old not competing in big games and losing games we should dominate. i just want to see a good product on the field and accept that sometimes even good teams have bad games. This^ +1.
  2. C'mon Po, there are so many glaring differences right now between Stanford and Nebraska it is impossible to tie their loss to Utah into our loss to Minnesota. Sure, they may seem similar on the surface but the truth is, Minny beating us this year is almost not even an upset. Their ranked number five and have been regular top ten dwellers, whereas we've been upper teens low twenty's at best. I wish we could equate the situation but we just can't.
  3. I was with you and respected your opinion until the last sentence. Maybe it's semantics and maybe I am reading this wrong, but I've only one time been embarrassed during Bo's time here and that was after Wisconsin in the CCG last season. We just have different standards and levels of expectation. Lots of people are content losing four games, being ranked around 20-35, playing Wyoming close, getting beat by Minnesota, and typically only playing about 2-2.5 quarters per game. I find all those things unacceptable and somewhat embarrassing. You sure don't have to if you don't want to. It's quite a bit easier for people to agree that 30+ point blowout losses are embarrassing- that's the easy stuff.
  4. I might be all alone here but I don't want Bo released for anything Carl might or might not have done. My first preference would be that Bo gets this team to play well the rest of the way this season and they win out or lose only 1 or 2 closely contesed games, and he keeps his job and shows considerable improvement next year. However, I have serious doubts that is what will happen. That leaves choices 2A and 2B; A- he is fired because of more mediocre showings and/or blowout losses or B- he quits because he sees the writing on the wall. Really my preference is for him to stay but only if we start doing something we can be proud of and not embarrassed by.
  5. Man do I love watching Stanford play. They are Nebraska pre Callahan. I miss having a stout D and offense that can impose it's will. That is attainable again if we would only strive for it. Damn you Callahan.

I believe I'll message a mod about a name change finally. Been talking about it forever. I was feeling sentimental or something when I created this lame ass name.

I'd start with the great defense. You will eventually find an offense if you have even a half way decent oline, but a great defense will give you a chance to win every game. See Sparty.

  6. I like the ones that flirt with you.......preferably female.
  7. I want to play in the ccg IF we can play competitive. If we're going to get embarrassed, I'd just as soon not play in it. The rest of our season will determine if we make it there. If we can earn a trip there, we should be able to also not get curbstomped. There's a couple big ifs and shoulds in there.
  8. It could always be worse..... When my kids were little, our daycare provider lady (we live in Colorado) knew we were Husker fans, probably because the kids wore Husker stuff at least twice a week. She thought it would be funny to put Buffs gear on them and take some pictures, which she did. I'm not sure if she fully understands to this day how serious I was when I told her that would never happen again. I told her and she laughed (I didn't) then I told her again. I think she got it because that was the last time.
  9. When do they post the abc/espn coverage map for this Saturday? My cable guide is listing byu-wisconsin on abc and some other game on espn. I have to believe abc will go with Nebraska in northern colorado.

I don't care which channel carries it but yeah- they f'ing better have it on one of them.

  10. Wanna see lots of 2nd and short situations on offense. On defense I want to see lots of blitzing and meanness and Michigan not knowing what to do. It's about time for one of those defensive gameplans that contributed to the guru status for Bo.
  11. The world will know that free men stood against a tyrant, that few stood against many, and before this battle is over, even a god-king can bleed. It's too early in the game week. I feel like running through walls already. Darn you knapp.
  12. Nice post knapp. Little known fact- Kain Colter is the nephew of a guy (I believe his sisters son) that works next door to my business. They're quite proud of him and rightfully so. He seems to be a class act.
  13. It's been awhile since I've been to a game at Memorial stadium but I cannot even fathom this behavior going past the first comment. Where are the other fans while this is happening? I don't want to come off as some kind of tough guy, because I'm not but, I sure wouldn't put up with it. Somebody needs to have the balls to get a coalition of fans together and go put an end to it if the ushers/security isn't taking care of it. Not too many loudmouths are going to stand up to 3-4-5-6 other fans telling them to shutup or else. I may not think Pelini is getting the job done but, I'm sure as hell not going to heckle him at a game or put up with it from others. He is the Nebraska coach until the day he isn't and that deserves respect from the fans.
  14. Shutup Knapp. He started in 1994....... If he goes for a longer time period fine but, if he starts shortening it up, I blame you. Everyone knows you start these types of things in either 1970 or 1994. No other year is an eligible starting point.
  15. I'm sure this will be mentioned to our players. Guys that play dirty get attention. If he does that sh#t in our game, I'm all for a career ending high/low crackback on his ass. I'll laugh as they cart him off. That head twist is bullsh#t.
  16. I doubt it. Very good Dude. There is no proof that they in fact did practice.
  17. This ^ plus, don't the coaches watch and pay attention during the game. It was more than obvious by the start of the 2nd quarter that a change was called for. Anybody who blames TM because he played the WHOLE game probably has to remember to breath.
  18. I'm putting my vote up to a vote on Huskerboard. Shall the commisioners of Weld county Colorado pursue (with other counties) becoming the 51st state of the USA? Please respond yes or no. You have two hours and then I'm going with the HB consensus.

Foppa- the rationale is that these rural counties contribute a bunch of oil/gas revenue to the state but get little in return from the urban Denver controlled government. So it really has nothing to do with being located in the US.

      NUance

No. It would start a 2nd Civil War and lead to the end of humanity. DON'T DO IT!!

Ok, 8-5 no. Huskerboard gets an official no vote on ballot question 1A. I sure am glad it didn't end up yes. That would've been irresponsible of you guys.

  19. I can tell you that the reaction on Huskerboard was quite tame in 1997. No meltdown or anything.
  20. These types of highlight videos are intended to get the crowd pumped up. I think Husker fans can appreciate good hard football hits that brainlessly got called as penalties. And it is rather telling that KSUx has to resort to using obvious and blatant face mask infractions for highlights. Cut em some slack- they've got nothing else to fill up a highlight reel. Penalties and blunders framed as success, that's all they've got.
  21. It's us fans job to place things like that in historical context. The current players should not be interested in the specifics of what some crusty old guys did 20-30-40 years ago. However, I would like to see maybe 30 minutes spent with incoming players, with video highlights, of the tradition they are stepping into. We can't assume they know squat about what most of us see as Nebraska Football. It really hasn't existed during their lifetime. So yeah, maybe a brief glimpse into the past and a bit of a primer on fanbase expectations wouldn't hurt a thing.
  22. So far the series against NW has all the makings for a naturally occuring rivalry. Respect, close games, crazy finishes, and the ever present battle for the real NU. I'll take this over some artificial creation any day. And for those of you who think piss bombs or hatred are required or even desirable elements for a good rivalry, that is just plain sad.
  23. I would agree that generally we have conditioning and strength issues. However, I'm not convinced conditioning concerns apply to Ameer. Sure there will be times in a game where he'll need a breather depending on his workload and the time in the game. But let's not pretend that is impacting our ability to sustain a running game. Cross and Newby are more than acceptable to hold up the RB responsibilites. Our running game is more dependent on two other factors; the OL and Beck's play calling. Our OL , while significantly improved, currently has injury and depth issues but the biggest factor still appears to be haphazard and, at times, stupid play calling. We don't establish and maintain a running game because too often Beck panics and won't give it a chance to get established.
  24. I think TA has to be viewed as the guy. If he struggles or we need to go primarily pass, then it's RK time. And this all presupposes that TM is less than 100% healthy. I fear the defense will continue to be baffling but don't underestimate the value of momentum. I believe the main ingredient missing is believing. Defense has to be played with some emotion. If these young guys can string together some successes, it could easily snowball into something that will work. As far as injuries, we are hurting pretty bad especially on offense. We would have to be crazy to think we have any advantage going into the big house. They're gonna be wanting to get back on track after getting prison raped by MSU. I expect a low scoring affair unless Michigan moves the ball at will against us. Our D needs to have it's best game of the past two seasons to break Hoke's home streak.
