  1. I literally have no bleeping idea what you just posted here or what it means. Edit: I know by the rankings they are bad, but outside of that, those decimal numbers really don't mean anything to me. Sorry, not a stats wonk.
  2. I love the different options. And while just having a +1 is simpler...it isn't like the options available now are complicated.
  3. To the bolded part...I think you are incorrect. Yes it can be difficult to quantify just how much of an effect penalties have on losing vs winning. However, a holding call can stop a drive cold and force a punt. A defensive penalty can give an opposing offense a touchdown. For example, against Troy, Nebraska had them stopped on 3rd down, but a defensive penalty gave them a free 1st down. They then went on to score their final TD on that drive and won the game. Bottom line: Penalties going against you do more to help you lose than win.
  4. 1. CDog did NOT insult you, personally or otherwise. 2. Your point about "hiring Frost too late is moot. None of us had any hand in the hiring decision and those that did opted to hire other people. 3. However, to this point of "hiring Frost too late" you are failing to understand one thing: It wasn't a given that even if Eichorst or Perlman had wanted to hire Frost, that he would have said yes. Go back and listen to the interviews Frost gave at the time AD Moos hired him and subsequently... He mentioned several times that just because the HC position at Nebraska was open there was no guarantee he'd take it if offered. He mentioned multiple times that he wanted to make sure the leadership at the university was right. Listen to what Frost says in those interviews and listen for the subtext, which is: Frost would have absolutely told Perlman and Eichorst no on any offer. You better believe that Tom Osborne was in Frost's ear and it was TO who basically convinced Frost that the right leadership (Moos, Bounds, Green) was in place. Further, Frost was only going to come back if he got the kind of long term deal he wanted. Plus, there were rumors that Perlman was really the one making the decisions on which coaches to hire. Also, after Pelini was fired, there were additional rumors that Perlman and Eichorst wanted to dictate to Frost the assistant coaches he hired. No idea if that is true, but it sounds like a tactic Perlman would try. Rumors are that Perlman was the one who told Eichorst to make sure Diaco was hired.
  5. If this was the final table at WSOP and millions of dollars were on the line, I'm pushing my stack to the middle of the table--all in.
  6. I was actually expecting a thread like this...after the season was over if said season went not so great. But this thread being posted just three games into season one of CF's tenure?
  7. If Nebraska was winning and coaches were saying that about practice, then I could agree that perhaps it is a bit "pointless." However, the Huskers have looked steadily worse each week since Colorado. The old adage, how you practice is how you play is extremely apt here. So while you may deem it "pointless", I would say you're wrong and I think the coaches would say you're wrong.
  8. I guess being negative is one way to go about it...
  9. Exactly. Once the team gets better, they'll regain that home field advantage.
  10. The thing is though, Coach Frost is right. For example, on Nebraska's opening offensive drive against Michigan, the pass that was batted at the line of scrimmage and intercepted...If Adrian Martinez completes that pass, it is a touchdown because our WR was wide open. Then there was a screen Nebraska had set up with 2 blockers out front and all they had to do was block the safety and that screen pass would have gone a long way. So yeah, those are just two examples where if one small thing happens differently, the outcome of the play dramatically changes. As Al Pacino in Any Given Sunday says, "Football is a game of inches..."
  11. To be clear, I'm not worried either. I just think that if players are struggling mentally, maybe slowing down would be beneficial. Like I said, I know Frost will never do that though.
  12. Frost is overhyped in your view? Unbelievable. This staff is 3 fricking games into their first season. How about you dial it back a tad? Yeah the results we have seen thus far are not ideal--in fact they are the opposite of ideal. But we need to sit back and just let this process work. Frost and these coaches took an 0-12 team to 6-6 then 13-0...they didn't suddenly become stupid and incompetent overnight. Were going to take some lumps this year. Things are probably going to get worse before they get better. I dunno, maybe take some Prozac if you can't handle it.
  13. I'm not sure this warrants a separate thread so I will just put these thoughts here... I think what Coach Frost needs to is slow down. What I mean is, play the younger players and take your time. Huddle up, make sure everyone knows their assignment. Go back to the basics of running the ball and using play action. Focus on fundamentals and execution. Get that, THEN increase the tempo. I know Coach Frost will never do that. But I believe the reason we're seeing so many mistakes is that players many times don't know what they're doing, and pressure to go fast amplifies those errors. That is what I would do in Coach Frost's shoes.
  14. We'll find a reason to lose to Purdue. We'll invent a reason if we have to.
  15. There is no doubt you are correct. However, I think push comes to shove, bench the older players and just take your lumps with the younger players who have bought-in. I mean what's realistically the difference between losing 56-10 vs 62-10? A butt kicking is still a butt kicking. I guess what I am saying is: we're probably going to lose anyway, so we might as well play the younger players and build for the future. And I realize that sounds like writing the season off as if it is lost, and maybe it is. All I know is Coach Frost has to do something to get through to these players that poor play and half-assed effort is unacceptable.
  16. I don't wanna say if Frost doesn't fix this mess that Nebraska is "finished" because that just seems to negative in tone. But otherwise, I completely agree with the rest of what you said.
  17. Your guess is as good as mine. What I think we both agree on is that our current starters along the OL, and possibly even some other positions, need to see the bench. As to what Frost will actually do? There was a post that hinted at, or said, that an exodus (of potentially many) players was coming soon. Been trying to find it but haven't yet. To be honest, I kinda blacked out about sometime after 10pm and well, my memory is a bit hazy right now.
  18. That is 100% true. I think I said this yesterday: That is why, as a condition to accepting the HC position, he wanted a guaranteed five years because he knew just how dire the situation was. But, being a professional, he didn't want to say publically what he really thought--which I do not blame him at all. So yeah...I still don't think the season is lost, but yeah....Nebraska (as a program) has a far steeper mountain to climb than I previously wanted to believe. Coach Frost is the right guy and he will get us where we want to be. We're just going to have to our lumps along the way.
  19. When Deadpool is about to do something epic or cool, he says, "Time to make the chimichangas!" Of course he usually puts an expletive in there and since expletives aren't allowed as per board rules...
  20. Agreed. But at the same time... Because what we saw yesterday was just the Mike Riley gift that keeps on giving.
  21. And really, the entire team needs to keep their heads up and attitudes positive.
