  1. All this Ameer chatter about "what ifs/if" he played for TO made me wonder if TO had still been coaching would TO have offered Danny Woodhead a schollie and if so, how he'd now be perceived in husker lore.

Frank would have been recruiting Woodhead, and he didn't offer.

    3. 308_Husker

      308_Husker

Danny would have been great at Nebraska. Over 20 NFL scouts at the pro day for him clocked him between 4.33 and I think 4.38 in the 40 while Ameer ran 4.6 in the NFL combine. There may be a case between electronic  vs handheld timing, but Danny was a generational talent from western Nebraska and it's a damn shame he wasn't given a chance at UNL.

I think he ended up doing pretty well for himself

  2. Can't help but think, 2020 will likely be my least favorite year ever!! Dad always said to "never wish your life away" but damn, this year can't pass quick enough!!!!

Likely be? This dog is only 7 months old and it needed to be put down about 4 months ago.

  3. Gonna have to have a talk with my boy and my assistant manager. All I'm seeing for ads on huskerboard and even drudge today are models in Lingerie. (Not that I'm complaining but....)

  4. Happy Voting Day to everyone.. Don't care who you vote for just hope you VOTE! Also, asking everyone to call their shot..

    Not which candidate wins but:

    1. Blow out for the winner

    2. To close to call tonight

    3. Split popular vote and electoral vote again

Personally, I think its both to close to call and a split thereby replicating 2016 results. Regardless, hoping everyone gets out and votes!!

  5. I know everyone is upset with the decision by BA to cancel their game with us. Still, seeing the outbreak in Illinois now occuring I also think most of us are somewhat relieved that our boys won't be needlessly exposed.

Time to move on... Time to be thankful that are young men are safe... Time to focus on Northwestern and hopefully release some builtup frustrations. GBR!!!

The cancellation by Wisconsin, while disappointing, made sense at the time, and I get the safety aspects of it.  I am still disappointed the Big Ten didn't allow NU to schedule a make-up game.  Now is the time to be agile and creative to create opportunities for teams to play football.  The Big Ten is being the opposite of that.

I would need to see some/any proof that Illinois players acquired Covid due to playing Wisconsin before I think that is a valid concern.

I agree it is time to move on. However, I would like to remind everyone that Barry Alvarez was hugely involved, as the head of the B1G competition committee, in developing the s#!tshow rules that allow non red/red teams to choose to cancel games with no consequences. If anyone understood exactly how these rules could be gamed to a team’s advantage it was Barry. Not sure if it’s ironic or convenient that the Badgers just happened to be the first to employ this bulls#!t tactic.

  6. Is there anyone here whom disagrees with the B1G's decision to cancel the tourneys? If so, how do you justify weighing the needs of the few over the needs of the many? IMHO, this was the right decision as is the uni's decision to close down the facilities to outsiders.

  7. So, my cabinet was getting rather bare thereby forcing me to be creative for dinner/lunch. I made a hotdog chili and it was INCREDIBLE! Sadly, I didn't get to have seconds.. kids flippin inhaled it. Who knew?

  8. So, with exclusion of sports, theaters and bars closed, parks closed and my Rosie's becoming more dried out and chapped by the day I'm beginning to fully understand Dr. Suess.

  9. So.. I'm sure HB has posted this but in the fog of what 2020 has been and even now continues to be I feel it deserves another shout out. Both because we can all applaud him, his teammates and coaches as well as stop and give some thought into why he is now a scholly student. Well Done Damion and to you from us (the few, the proud, the marines).. Oorah!!!

I would love to see him get on the field and royally nail a running back.

  10. Thought about creating a thread, instead if a Mod determines the topic discussion worthy they can start it. My comment regarding coming sporting events at dear O' NU is... who here thinks now would be a great time to address the sardine packaging of fans in Memorial Stadium. Might be time to well... add actual seats?

    2. Enhance

      Enhance

My in-laws own several businesses (one of which is a small café) and they've taken this as an opportunity to update all the interior design of their café since they're only doing takeout like everyone else at the moment.

As for actual "seats?" I doubt that will ever happen to a significant degree. Not only would it be incredibly expensive but it would lead to a reduction in available seats, so less revenue.

    3. Redux

      Redux

I've been much in favor of removing one  seat per row for a long time now

    4. Toe

      Toe

I could see them converting certain sections. Fewer seats in those sections, sold at higher prices. Doing the whole stadium would probably only happen as part of a major renovation/expansion project.

  11. to not take the topic of the thread off target..

(this one you know) - I like the young turks for their left leaning view

(I am certain this is new to you) - Israeli New Live for their faith based news.
(not sure you'll know this one) - I also like Adam Green's KnowMoreNews (I think you'd like him too)

I don't respect Maddow any more than Hannity (both are hugely slanted mouth pieces) but I do like Tucker.

and... (shocker here), for my conservative side, I like Michael Savage. Have been a longtime subscriber to him.

I'm not a Trump guy nor am I a Bidden supporter. That said, had Bidden chose a moderate VP I'd have given him my vote. Currently I'm thinking Rand will receive my vote as both Trump and Bidden don't fit my pallet.

There's others but those are my favorites.

And you, whom do you listen too?

I follow several dozen small papers around the country. I feel like that gives me a better representation of the country as a whole rather than focusing on just the major outlets. So, papers like the Clarion Ledger, The Kenosha News, The Oregonian, stuff like that. Obviously the two local papers in Lincoln & Omaha. I also follow the local news stations in Lincoln & Omaha, and a few around the country, but not as much as the papers.

I also follow major outlets like ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and the NY Times, Washington Post, NPR, AP & Reuters, BBC North America, Salt Lake City Tribune, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Miami Herald, etc. I also follow several dozen reporters at most of these outlets, because sometimes they're quicker with the news than the overall publication.

Oops... it's one game and only the first series. Additionally, it's a very competitive team that is accustomed to playing high level competition. Teams from both the SEC and Big 12 to mention a few. A split in this series is in itself nothing to hang our heads on. I'm not going to say "oops" for one game of the seasons first series. Instead, I'll gladly and cheerfully support our young men and the staffs. Go Big Red!!

i was just saying oops for a lost game...not condemning the team or anything.    i have great hope for this season and this team.

  13. As a child I can remember how at the first sign of snow falling we'd run outside, stick out our tongues and dance with joy. As an old man now I run out the door, nearly wet myself from the cold, hold my fist up and stick my tongue out to say "screw you snow" and go back inside with my tail tucked between my legs. My how our lives change as we age.. What once was celebration now becomes dread. :'(

  17. Forum question... when you quote to  two different people do you do it in the same post or post the first quote and reply then post the second quote and reply? (I posted the first and while I was responding a person posted and I posted a second..) Is that double posting and bad etiquette?

Multiquote is the + sign at the bottom. You can quote multiple different posters and it will put them all into your post to reply to them. Idk what you're talking about doing

    3. desertshox

      desertshox

Given the hit or miss with the multi-quote function, you just gotta do what you gotta do. If it works, use it. If it doesn't, quote each one individually.

And now I want to see someone quote 10 posts individually just so they have all the posts on a page.

Multi-quote works fine for me most of the time, but occasionally I'll click the + and it does nothing. Sometimes refreshing the page will make it work.

    3. ladyhawke

      ladyhawke

True. It was probably great to coach in a place where you were valued.

  19. Ha, so in my boredom I looked back at Solich's final season here. Funny how that team played 2 common opponents (Colorado & Michigan St.) and one other B1G 10 team (Penn State) off the 2023 schedule. Then the husker's went 3-0 against those 3, last year.. well, 0-2 but we all know Penn St would have owned us. My how times changed.

  20. Hate to admit this but I think the whole of Husker nation is collectively holding their breath in waiting to see if Nebraska can earn the double-by at the B1G tourney. Bench is going to be huge in this game.. Wilcher, dude.. Hope you have your best game ever!!

@TonyStalloni As do I and everyone on Huskerboard. Was so relieved though when the score was out of reach for Michigan.

  21. Hmm.. Didn't know this but Tyrus (former NWA Champ) was a graduate of Kearney State. I also learned he once said "upon graduating I left in a rush because I couldn't afford the gown". Who knew???

  22. Huge Shout Out to ALL our NEW HUSKERS!!!  (Recruits and Walkon's alike! Both are huge and greatly appreciated components of Husker Lore!!)

Thanks each of You and May your time here be filled with Many Awesome Memories, Shouts of Joy and a Lifetime of Gains!!

  23. I absolutely, even as a Catholic, can't stand Creighton. Most snobbish, entitled, arrogant, indignant fan base in all of sports. Creighton sports disgust me to the core!!

  24. I was talking to a certain Omaha Metro coach this weekend and he stated he hoped Nebraska could begin getting old. I didn't understand his statement and asked him to clarify. He pointed out in today's NIL, he thinks successful programs will target 3 star and project lineman (both sides of scrimmage) to avoid transferring and lower the NIL required costs. Thoughts? Never heard "getting old" on the lines before.

You see it at the HS level too...9th and even 10th graders almost never go up to varsity to play the line, they have to be freaks.

    3. BigRedBuster

      BigRedBuster

Why wouldn't you target 4-5 star players and hope that you get old on the line?

    4. Loebarth

      Loebarth

I think the coach was in the opinion that today's 4 & 5 star players believe they shouldn't have to wait and therefore if they aren't starting they'll transfer out. Could be wrong but I think he just felt it best to get old on the lines, recruit 3 star and project players. Kind of makes sense if the university is wanting to lower it's NIL costs I guess.

  25. It's not the koolaid, I woke this morning to a vision of 38 - 34 and the huskers dancing on the sideline. It's happening, we win this one.

Yeah, on my planet the Huskers win every game. JK. It’s too bad. They started out strong but it seems like they don’t know a good thing when they have it! They had a good running game going then switched to passing? Why? I just don’t get that.
