  1. Probably just a gift they give to recruits on their visit. Doesn't necessarily reflect Quay's sentiments. Hey, can't hate on Pitt. It worked for David Knevel.
  2. Perhaps the surgeon just prescribed a trip to CO in lieu of pain meds for the surgery.
  3. If there's any way at all Riley could lure Allen to Lincoln, he should pull out ALL the stops. He'd be the most talented pure passer we've had on campus for a long time.
  4. Dear god, just say no! I don't know if there's ever been as hyped an NFL arm that's been as bad as Hacky at the college level.
  5. Pretty disappointed the game is on CBSSN. We don't get that channel in our house's Cox package :'(

  6. This is awesome news! Glad to have Tre on board no matter what. He's a huge recruit considering how in flux RB is right now.
  7. RGIII lost all his physical tools when his knee got shredded up. Baylor made his arm look like an NFL arm. He's a terrible QB. I agree with the philosophy, though.
  8. Langs made some boneheaded calls this year, but also get the feeling he made some good playcalls that TA made a poor read on that he ended up taking the heat on. Hope he stays.
  9. Really cool to bag on a kid who is able to attend a FBS school on a full ride scholarship and be around coaches he was comfortable with at Nebraska. Funny how people will jump all over a post about a kid who now plays for another school, but they have no problem with the poster he was responding to who jumps into every thread to bag on the Huskers with posts like the one above. Funny that. I guess we truly are the best fans in the world since we give more deference to other teams than our own team. /sarcasm I bag on coaches more than anything. I try not to rail on the players too hard, because they just kids to me (yes, I am one that calls 18-22 year olds kids). Yeah, I have been hard on Gangwish this year, but that was more to poke at PowerT. Plus, I think that Gangwish has gotten "too much press" for a guy who is a pretty average DE. If that rubs people the wrong way, so be it. Fair enough. What really gets me are those Husker fans who cheer for us to lose in the hope that Riley will get fired You don't fall into this category. But there are some Husker fans who do. Cheering for us to lose. It just boggles the mind. ======================== Anyway, back on track: I wish Johnny Stanton all the best. I wish he would've stuck it out longer at Nebraska. I think we could have used him this year. A bit tangential, but did you ever reach this point last year NU? I know personally I did. I feel the circumstances are a bit different, wanting a coach ousted after year seven as opposed to partway through year 1. But I know I wanted us to choke one away to Iowa to round out the year last year ONLY because there were the rumors swirling the outcome dictated Bo's future here. Obviously, it didn't matter. Obviously, looking back now, I realize how disgusting all of that was.
  10. I don't know about that...it actually makes me feel worse that we have the talent and ability to beat the Big Ten champions, yet somehow manage to lose 7 games. I'm definitely pulling for Sparty all the way, but I don't want our seasons to be defined by one major win against a highly ranked team followed by several losses. Yep. True Riley...er loser mentality.Finish sub .500 and beat the champs. Hip, hip, hooray. As old as these comments get. It's the truth. It's what Riley has done forever. Beat a giant, lose to puds. Meh. They don't get old. Negativity and cynicism are the spice of life. Riles has never been in a position that's as conducive to delivering championships as he has here, either. Last time he was was probably in Canada, and he did deliver one there. I for one still hold some hope.
  11. Based on what? Talent at NU has been fairly consistent across the last 4 coaches and most of TO's career. It's not going to get much better without cheating. Our coach needs to be able to win with what he had on the roster right now, or he's the wrong coach. Oh, I don't know, the last fifteen or so years of national championships? Teams that win it all recruit elite talent. Based on what you're asking, every coach is the wrong coach, because no coach is winning it all with our recruiting classes. Personally, the number of Pelini blowouts sting for me a lot more than a loss to Purdue by ten.
  12. This rhetoric has grown old. He didn't have HIS guys at OSU. He had guys he could GET to OSU. Come on man. He got the leftovers from every other west coast program. Kids ain't beating down the door to come to Corvallis. It's apples to oranges. Always will be. From 2008 to 2015 (While Bo was here), Nebraska recruited 47 four star recruits and 1 five star. During that same time period, OSU recruited 8 four stars and 1 five star that flamed out spectacularly (Simi Kuli, who we also recruited in 2008, never played for them). As far as I'm concerned, the talent gap alone throws any legitimate comparison out the window. And now we're all up in arms because he was given one season with a QB that routinely made predetermined throws right at defenders that directly cost us a handful of games? Give me a break. I don't agree, because other poor recruiting (per a flawed recruiting services metrics) teams do well. Plus, he's recruiting the same guys to NU that he recruited to OSU. Not that I have a major problem with that. A coach has to go for who fits his system. Argue all you want about the accuracy of the recruiting services, but highly ranked classes DO correlate to on field success. I know I'm butchering this stat, but roughly: a championship hasn't been won by a team that didn't finish in the top 11 in recruiting in something like 15 years. Pretty telling. You really think Riley is only accessing the same talent pool here that he did at OSU?

  14. I'm just glad POB is an early enrollee. With the extra time on campus, it will be very interesting to see if he can push or unseat TA for the starting spot. Will Riley go with his guy and the clear fit for his offense, or the senior with tons of experience and wins who is a terrible fit and turns the ball over far too often?
  15. Mike Schaefer from 247 believes Mo will be N come Monday. Great news!
  16. Visiting this weekend. He's the only visitor on campus, so all attention and energy should be on him.
  17. Really need to upgrade the talent at secondary if we're going to use similar schemes on defense as we did this year. Need more guys like Lamar. He would be an awesome start! Let's hope he is N soon!

  19. Well actually.... I'm not sure why the 28-20 loss to #3 Iowa would remind Dirk of losing 26-20 to a CU team that lost nine games that year. #3 Iowa. Nine loss Colorado. Similar? No. Maybe he should have looked at the Purdue game. Nobody should ever have to look at the Purdue game again. Worst game of a terrible year. It should be stricken from our records. Penn State literally buried the game film from their Temple loss this year. Maybe Riley should look into that with the Purdue game I was gone to CO the weekend of the Purdue game. Got busy and couldn't watch. Started watching film on WatchESPN 'til halftime when I got back, never finished. Guess there was a reason...
  20. Probably because we're paying for all of those unnecessary apostrophes we're using. The Apostrophists are no doubt behind this in part of some larger price-gouging scheme.
  21. Ya well TA doesn't have to win it either he just chooses too. The offense is geared to help him out but when he's making throws he's not supposed to. Then that's on him. Not the coaches. Would you say asking Tommy Armstrong to throw 40+ times a game is gearing an offense to help him out? He's a quarterback, if he can't throw the ball he should be playing a different position. Exactly. TA has a very serious flaw for a quarterback. By never throwing the ball away, you never cut losses and avert disaster. The upside is that TA is always making to look a play and sometimes delivers absolutely breathtaking, scintillating throws. The drawback is a HUGE risk to force throws right at defenders and is consequently a bonafide turnover machine. TA's mobility makes him very good at avoiding sacks and extending plays, which amplifies the probelm by providing more opportunity for poor decisions. His tendency to force throws when they're just not there at all absolutely hamstrings the offense. TA is an absolute gamer and deserves his place in Husker lore. We'll see if he sticks it out for next season. Sounds like he will. Either way, I'll be very excited to see what we can do when we have a much more fundamentally sound player under center.
