  1. you can do that....but check the joist, headers, and support posts to make sure there are no soft spots in them. putting the new deck over the old support system can be costly if 5 years down the road your support boards have rotted away. Thanks! ED thanks for your post too. I think I can save a ton if I just by the composite boards myself and put them on.
  2. Hey Erstadt...thanks for costing me cash today

Maybe if you had bet on Erstad, you would have made money.

  3. Anyone do their own composite deck? Here me out...I was thinking of just taking up the 16 deck boards that I currently have...then just replacing them with the composite boards...Do you know what I mean?
  4. I did my own floors and you can tell in some spots...painting I do but I get bored with it. I did my own baseboards and you can tell in some spots with that too. I did a paver-stone patio with wood fire pit...Good lord...it might be the worst thing ever.
  5. I want to tile around my fireplace and I totally feel like I could do it and make it look nice but at the same time I know I suck with being a "handy man"... I would like to rip out my deck boards and lay down composite boards but again...I feel like I would somehow burn down my house. What kinds of projects do you all feel comfortable with doing and where did you learn it from?
  6. Yeah, my local guys have not even put it up yet...Over 6 was a gimmie...even Riley can do that.
  7. Most schools will get out in front of this. I have done this 3 times (I think, maybe more) where we have made sure a person that has been through hell and back...or is going through hell and back...graduates with their class. It is no sacrifice on my end to offer a hand of help for someone that has had major problems.
  8. Summer break...so bored!

When was your last day? Mine was yesterday and I have about 6 weeks of house and yard work to catch up on since the end of the school year is so busy

Last Thursday. I have some house work that I can do but not much, plus, I am not really handy so doing certain things around my house I can't really do own my own...because I will pretty much destroy everything.

  9. If I was a reporter...I would probably invest in a gym membership and start working out and have 911 on speed dial.
  10. Any of you teachers do any work over the summer? I teach summer school for a month.

Paid work - no. Home improvements, doing some school planning now instead of during school when I don't have time - yes

Summer School, extended school year, way too many professional developments. Trip or two mixed in.

Actually there are quite few teachers around here who paint houses for a summer job. One of them went year round with it quite a few years ago. He painted our house.

  11. It is not like we would expect any OL/DL guys on the list. No TE's as or now or LBer's or QB's. Out of the 22 positions, not counting specialists, we knew that there would be no Huskers for most of the positions.
  12. I thought I heard that this line might be coming out at Nebraska -9. If that is the case...WOW
  13. Can we start predictions on which posters will freak out about your post? Shoot, I will create money line odds if I know it won't get me banned! haI think your view of Huskerboard members is really far from reality. Oh, sorry...you must not have the password to the woodshed. The Woodshed doesn't count. It's where people go to vent things they wouldn't normally say in real life. So you're basically judging people for their inner thoughts that they barf onto the internet. This is the post of the year! Plus one this!
  14. This would be classic NU baseball to crap the bed vs Purdue...I know I know...Purdue has more talent that NU...I know

Glad they've pulled it together but it'd be much nicer to see Hohensee get back to his mid-season form, ala the Maryland series, for example.

Just listen to the analysts!!! We have no talent!!

  16. In the end...the biggest reason probably is that is gives them and excuse to see you. Not saying you don't see your family a lot but for a lot of people, without kids, they tend to see mom/dad less and less to some extent. If they have grandkids there is that built in "reason" to see them or for them to visit you. Also, people LOVE giving advice and being involved in other peoples lives (just look on this site with the crazy advice people give) and parents can't wait to tell you "how to do it" and stuff. Not in an evil way...just in a typical "I did this before, I can tell you what to do" way.
  17. RM...because I think I have seen his Bond films the most.
  18. It will be tough to beat them...they do have better overall talent.
  19. Guess they don't know how bad he is...Wink

  21. At least Hillary isn't President..... On a serious note, If this passes, I'm curious to see what it does to small towns with parochial schools. For example, West Point, NE. I'm pretty sure West Point CC is already bigger than West Point-Beemer High. What happens when even more people choose to go to CC rather than public? Or what happens when those currently paying tuition can redirect their tax money? Those tax dollars will leave the public school system and I'd assume public schools would be left to wither away. Nothing like seeing "progress" when your alma mater is boarded up and torn down... Small town people have a hard enough time with consolidation. I am not sure what would happen. That is interesting though.
