  1. I'd bet on our offensive lines being one of the best in the conference this year soooo..... yeah.... it would take a monimental leap but i would be happy with top 4 Our OL will be at the very worst second best in the conference. We keep everybody plus we add a healthy Jake Cotton and Matt Finnin. We did lose the guys who started at LG and C most of the year. Pensick and Long were probably the best Lineman we had last year, especially Pensick by the end of the year. I remember an interview, maybe after Iowa, that Pensick was regularly grading out the best out of any lineman. We aren't going to lose much if nothing at all at Center (Jackson was spectacular at pulling). Cotton looks to be an absolute mauler with an attitude, something we haven't had since Henry graduated. I like how the OL is shaping up, and if they can just get good play in pass protection from the tackles, then we have a top 10 unit in the country to go with all the weapons at the skill positions.
  2. Cornnation has some good updates on this situation. Brown and Suttles started a fight with an unnamed Husker (this might be Jonathon Rose, who's name showed up in the beginning, nothing to verify, just a hunch considering we now know what the other 3 names were doing), Santos attempts to stop the fight and Suttles hit him with a bottle.
  3. Or they may have been chosen now based on what has happened during winter and spring work outs. They're being chosen now to provide leadership throughout the summer. Also you have to look at that Marine training they did earlier in the year. Those 4 might have separated themselves at that point to. We, as fans, have very little to no knowledge at the internal dynamics of the team, and even though Jason Peter is an alumni, he probably has the same exact knowledge. We also have no clue at how Pelini came up with these 4. It could have been an internal vote for all we know.
  4. Taylor is more college ready, but Newby isn't that far behind and I wouldn't compare Newby to Green or even Abdullah. I think Newby will be in the same role that Abdullah had when he was a freshman. A kick returner and punt returner with some carries on offense. While Taylor is the more college ready to be a featured back, Newby is probably the most athletic back that we will have on the team. I find it hard to think that either of them will be redshirted.
  5. My point has never been if we got outplayed or whether they were better than us that night. Simply is about the double standards on this board. If someone is giving WISC the excuse that "the other team played out of their minds" as a serious justification for a loss then the same should be applied for us in the CCG. Which in most people's minds, is not gonna cut it. Using in within the context of a discussion to prove the original point discredits the beginning statement in my opinion. I completely agree with you. It was absolutely rotten that we lost the way we did and completely destroyed any good will we had built up over the previous 6 weeks, and completely overshadows everything the team did over the entire season. I'm very passionate about the football team, but if/when we lose a game it doesn't affect me. The UCLA game pissed me off because we threw the game away, not because we gave up over 600 yards of offense. Offensive yards mean diddly squat if you aren't scoring at the end of drives. The next thing the team needs to figure out is how to take a punch to the jaw that knocks you down and then get right back up against better teams. (the fumbles against USC and UGA in the Capital One, Miller's run, and every other time we lost big we can point to 1 or 2 plays that snowballed)
  6. Wisconsin came to play, and Nebraska decided to not make plays. That first TD was a prime example, Stafford is in position for a TFL or at least a minimal gain, Gordon slips him, and then slips Smith 20 yards downfield, TD. Plays that we had been making since OSU, we stopped making. it was a prefect storm that night, we'd just played our butts off 6 games straight with multiple draining comebacks, while Wisconsin had known about playing in the Championship game for 3-4 weeks. They could play their last couple games vanilla, and throw a couple of hours of game planning a week for us. And it didn't help that we lost Steinkuhler and Jackson the previous week either (though the outcome probably wouldn't have changed to much). The bottom line though is we just got outplayed that night.
  7. So who's idea was it to throw a set of commercials right before a big at bat with no indications of any halt in play?
  8. Abdullah worked a lot better when he was playing off of Burkhead last year. He won't have that this year, but the guys behind him will definitely make his life easier. Don't think he gets enough carries for 1500, but unless he gets injured he will definitely hit 1000. When was the last time someone from Nebraska went over 1500 yards rushing?
  9. I hope just because he's getting BCS offers we don't jump the gun on an offer to him. Absolutely would love to get his speed on the football field, but at this point in time he's a track person who plays football. Maybe we offer him to get him in the program, but I'd rather have football players.

Well, it's in England right? So it's tennis then. That's Wimbledon, Shawn Watson.

I do not understand one word you typed GSG, what the hell is a Wimbledon?

  10. Something I heard, maybe something that was posted on this board, was that Heard was asked to learn the slot position to get him on the field and that was the final straw for him. Heard wanted to be THE guy, but with Abdullah in front of him since they got to Nebraska, he wasn't going to get that chance. So he left.
  11. I stand in this crowd also, only because I don't think the university did much to warrant a year band. It may be ignorance on my part, but the actions of a few players whom aren't on the team any more and a coach who resigned shortly after didn't raise a major flag in my head. I understand the USC situation. I understand the Auburn situation. I understand the Penn St situation. I understand the Oregon situation. The little that I know about OSU doesn't warrant a year bad of the program, IMO. If it's something deeper than my understanding, then really, is a year band really a punishment for a program like that? My understanding is the year ban was for the coverup done by Tressel, and maybe their use of the tat 5 in the Sugar Bowl after they had been suspended.
  12. Still an important transfer. He just now has a shorter leash coming in. 1 mistake should not ruin his chances. It's when things start repeating is when it will become a problem. And there really hasn't been a problem with police since Pelini came here.
  13. Same here with the A&M. We had no chance in that game playing the refs. Didn't we get like 12 penalties in that game. That sucked for sure. 16 penalties to 2 if I'm not mistaken. Ours were made up of personal fouls and such and I think A&M's were a false start and offsides or somethin. Mike Sherman was visibly upset both right after the game and during the press conference. I'm guessing because he knew with 100% certainty that the biggest win for A&M in years of which they had just accomplished was because of the officiating and that deep down he knew the agg's wouldnt've had a chance in hell in a properly officiated game. Way too many 50/50 calls and calls that were up to officials interpretations were called on us that night. The Osbourne roughing the passer that set up the game winning field goal was the most egregious. Another one, that was brought to my attention the other day while on youtube, was an A&M lineman who was trailing a play hit Amukamara after the runner was down, no penalty called. Exact same situation with us, Henry hitting an A&M defender after Burkhead was clearly down and we got a penalty. So many problems with that year and officiating, Iowa State had their MLB attempting to rip Burkhead's head off but when Legate pushed him off he gets the penalty. Maybe it was just that specific crew. And yeah it seems like we've sort of been idling in neutral since that A&M game. Pelini was publicly rebuked for his outbursts, and maybe if we win that game we would be able to pull off the Championship game against Oklahoma. Before that game, we also had played better as a team on the road under Pelini, almost knocking off Texas Tech when they had Harrell and Crabtree and were ranked in the top 10, outside of the Oklahoma game in '08 our average margin of loss away from Lincoln (all games including bowls) was like 3 points. Since that game we've lost to a Washington team we beat by 35 earlier in 2010 by 14, and we haven't even come close in any of our B1G night away games. But something feels different about this year. Just the feeling around the team to go along with a schedule where we lose the two best Leaders teams. Then there was the fact that the offense looked completely unstoppable against Georgia until we got in our own way/Georgia's athleticism won the 4th quarter. Just so many weapons on an offense that was already best in the Big 10 last year.
  14. McKeown loves this kids arm. Thinks he has the most arm talent out of anyone we're recruiting this year. I trust Beck with his QBs. Armstrong last year, Stanton this year. He's very good at finding those diamonds in the rough, in fact it seems like our entire coaching staff is capable of finding them.
  15. The no. 1 thing Bo needs to do is figure out how to stop a flood when the damn gets a crack and starts leaking (Miller's run last year, Abdullah's fumble last year in the Capitol One bowl, and the Hail Mary the year before). Seems like one thing goes wrong with this team, and then they start pressing and making more mistakes. We sort of corrected that during the last 6 games of the regular season where we were behind in the 2nd half in 4 of the 6 games. But that was also against teams who had less talent than we did. I'm confident for this year because our offense last year made fools of a lot of good defenses last year (rushing for over 300 yards against Michigan State is the most impressive performance), and we're just going to have even more weapons, an even more experienced OL, and a QB who's been in the system for 3 years. As long as we keep from shooting ourselves in the foot, it's going to be absolutely deadly. The defense should at least be a little more athletic.
  16. Or more importantly, why that kind of development and improvement came to a screeching halt once Carl and Marvin went elsewhere. And we've had 1 and 2 whole seasons respectively since they left, whereas they had 4 and 3 years respectively to develope said players. I'm just sayin it takes time. Our Dline coach just completed his first year at the position as well as the secondary coach and D-coordinator. Was we really regarding the work Carl and Sanders were doin after '08 the same as after '09 and '10? But I will agree that things have obviously taken a downward turn since Marvin and Carl left, but I blame more on lack of talent than lack of coaching. Even Corey Raymond came out and actually said it. Our defense at the end of 2008 also wasn't nearly as bad as our defense at the end of 2012. There was improvement throughout the course of the year, not huge improvement, but noticeable. We can't say that about last year. Corey Raymond was making excuses for being a sh**ty coach. Joseph got more out of the same crop of players. The biggest thing I've noticed about our DBs is that they are absolutely crap at playing a ball that's in the air. Look at the long TD against Georgia after the pick 6, Green was in position to make the play, but missed and and it's a TD. That's definitely something that needs to improve next year, and it's something that has been a "problem" since Pelini came back. Hagg was sometimes absolutely terrible with this. He was the one who gave up the only TD in the Iowa State debacle because he didn't turn around and look for the ball.
  17. How many players have come out and say that they love Bo and that they feel the team is like a family? There have been some high profile players that have left the team, but outside of Moore each one had someone in front of them on the depth chart who was clearly better.
  18. If they're trying to move up for a LB I want Ogletree. He destroyed us in the fourth quarter last year and also caused the Abdullah fumble. Really hoping they don't grab T'eo and definitely not for a 2nd 3rd and 4th rounder. Edit: No matter who they pick, I think giving up 4 picks is a little too much (2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 7th).
  19. Like the black with the red N outlined in white. If we're doing alt uni game, go for that one with black jersey and pants with red trim.
  20. Big what if? What if the 49ers trade Montana for Elway?

Terrell Davis=only reason Elway has any Super Bowls. Boom. Also, only 3 seasons with 60% completion percentage.

    3. Mavric

      Mavric

Because Montana and Yound never got any help from their teammates? Rice, Craig, Taylor, Jones, Rathman, Lott, Haley, ....

1 point Mavric 0 points Husker07. ELWAY WAS THE WHOLE TEAM! I could name you all the WR's Elway played with, and all the RB's that played beside him but that's because I've been a Broncos fan for 27 years. But ask the average fan to name 2 of John Elway's receivers in the 80's or 2 of his RB's in the 80's. Most people don't f'ing' know ONE! Yet everybody can name off the hall of fame roster San Francisco had. Geez people gimme a break...

  21. Did we or did we not play in the B1G championship game? Did we or did we not have the best record out of the postseason eligible teams in the Big 10? Bo squeezed a lot out of the guys he had, it just wasn't enough and it definitely didn't help when Steinkuhler went down against Iowa.
  22. The team needs to get over the hump on road games in the Big 10. The only top tier road venue we've won has been at PSU the week Sandusky came to light. That is why, at this point in time, Michigan is favored. But it's also going to be the second time to Ann Arbor. So who knows, but it's a very real possibility that NU and OSU can be undefeated going into the B1G Championship.
