Nebula
That last pic is cool, knapp. I've got a thing for trains, though. (Seriously. That's not innuendo. I've just always thought trains were cool.) Quote Link to comment

Me too. I have an HO scale model train I have had since I was about 6. I need to rebuild that thing. Quote Link to comment
corncraze
I'm surprised they haven't done any more ironing work on the East in the last two weeks. But based from you top photo, it now looks like they have their iron rails to put in place. Were they waiting for a shipment or something? Quote Link to comment

jwhbigred
Today's updates. This structure went up in about ten days. There was basically no ironwork here when I took last week's photos, just some ground work for the foundation. I don't know what this is - I'm guessing it's a hotel. It's a powerplant for the arena: "The DEC natural gas plant will be a plain brick building built into a parking garage and will provide low-cost, efficient heating and cooling for the arena and surrounding private development." Omaha-Husker
Lincoln is going to be unrecognizable in a few years if our old Big 12 friends ever come to town. Quote Link to comment
California4Nebraska
Hello! I've been following this thread for awhile. I live in the LA area and am so thankful for the pics of Memorial Stadium's expansion! Just thought I'd drop a quick note letting everyone (especially knapplc) know how great it is to check out the progress... feels like I'm home (now someone mail me some Runzas or Schmigos)! Anyway, I was also wondering what peoples' thoughts were about the final result in terms of atmosphere. There has been plenty of discussion in the last year about The Sea of Red's lack of game-day enthusiasm on a consistent basis... surely this addition will increase the volume and resonance of the stadium in general, not to mention add 5k more voices, right? I'm hoping this is a HUGE step in the direction of reminding Husker Nation how great our fans are... and making Memorial Stadium actually a difficult place to visit. Thoughts? Edit: Does anyone know of plans to bolster the sound system? Quote Link to comment

tschu
Amazing how we can't get a reasonable upgrade of the most basic (and needed) thing in our stadium, yet we can get a multi-million dollar expansion. All about the $$$ I guess. If anyone knows some filthy rich a-hole, tell him to donate a couple hundred grand so we can get some decent sound equipment installed Quote Link to comment
Twinkletoes Flintstone
The sound system is really just downright embarrassing IMO. When I get to go to my one game a year I am in east stadium at about the 45 yard line 15 rows up, so about right in the middle, the sound goes in an out with the wind, it's just awful. I have never really eaten at Amigos but used to love Runza (my mom makes them homeade) and IMO Runza has really gone downhill, still have great fries though. Quote Link to comment
