Week 12 "Expert" Picks: Nebraska @ Michigan

I have no prediction. No gut feeling. Would believe almost any scenario.

I still think Nebraska hasn't put together a complete game yet - which it should do at least once a season. This would be a good time.

This Husker team might actually focus better on the road than at home. So there's that.

God, I just want to be able to harass my Michigan buddy mercilessly.

From ESPN Insider (Wil Harris)......he also picks NCState to beat Clemson so take this for what it's worth. The way he talks it seems as if he doesn't watch much NU football if he thinks that the PSU game was our best of the season. No way UM holds NU to 16 points.

Nebraska Cornhuskers at Michigan Wolverines

Michigan is favored by 3.5 points

TeamRankings win odds for Nebraska: 43 percent

The Cornhuskers played their best game of the season last week at Penn State, but we continue to be unimpressed by the current regime. Since Taylor Martinez became the starting quarterback, Nebraska has put the ball on the ground more than any other team in the nation. The defense is very coverage-oriented, built to stop Big 12 offenses, and struggles with both mobile quarterbacks and solid downhill tailback attacks.

Michigan neither recruited nor developed players well on defense during the Rich Rodriguez/Greg Robinson era, and this unit is under-talented by the program's usual standards. The roster contains maybe three players who could start for the defense that the Wolverines will be fielding three years from now, which makes the quick transformation that Brady Hoke and coordinator Greg Mattison have wrought all the more impressive. There haven't been many interceptions or tackles for loss, but overall there's little not to like about a Michigan defense that's really starting to come together down the stretch. The Wolves can slow a Nebraska attack that's been hit hard by injuries to key blockers, and facing Denard Robinson in practice each week is excellent preparation for what the Maize and Blue will see out of Martinez.

Robinson and emerging star Fitzgerald Toussaint can keep the chains moving against the Huskers, who will be taxed by a schedule that calls for back-to-back plane trips to huge, unfamiliar stadiums.

The pick: Michigan 31, Nebraska 16

I think Mr. Harris is a bit shallow in his analysis and he fails to aknowlege some of the improvments that the D and the Offense have made as the season has progressed. It will be a close game but I don't see a 31 to 16 game, that is the spread than the Hukers will win ....... in a close game who knows.

I find it ignorant of him to use last year to predict this year. Especially with the fumbles. We are averaging 0.4 less fumbles lost per game [0.6] from last year. We are ranked 22 in the nation as far as fumbles lost per game.

I don't understand the bolded part. Is he trying to use that as a reason for why they're going to "shut us down" on Saturday? If he is, it is pretty weak.

The PSU game was decent, but I'd argue that Nebraska played far better against Michigan State. Nebraska was VERY close to letting PSU come back.
