cscott2win
Actually you have to commend walk ons that have poured their hearts and souls into the program regardless of how their lack of talent becomes so obvious at times. I guess it doesn't say much for the guys playing behind them! The shame is not in the fact that Thorell gets beat a lot, the shame is that there isn't someone better. Seeing Kinnie for the last time however is a different issue. 3 Quote Link to comment

Mavric
Ciante played Nickle until Fonzie got ejected, then you started to see Thorrell. Pretty sure Ciante always plays the Nickle. Thorrell plays the Dime which is the fourth DB. Quote Link to comment

holvy83
There must have been a bright spot, did I actually see Turner on the field today or was the glare on my TV playing tricks on me? Quote Link to comment
roadrat
No cheap shots at the walk-ons but better recruiting keeps the likes of Cassidy and Thorrell off the field. Quote Link to comment
HuskerT
Now that the season is over, Nebraska "fans" can stop bashing players who put their heart and soul into this team by giving it their all everyday. I am sure this happens with every fan base, but it is not like players such as Cassidy and Thorell are purposely playing bad. A bright spot would be to not have to read anymore of these types of posts, but probably not going to happen. Quote Link to comment
Sub-Husker
Bright Spot = big payout for big loss to SEC team Quote Link to comment
Comish
No injuries ...............(that I know of)........... And, in spite of the miscues.......................the first half validated that we CAN play with an SEC team if we clean up our own act(s) We head into the off-season knowing we return ( I believe I read this somewhere, correct me if wrong) 16 of 22 starters plus Mahere..........(sp?)........... 1 Quote Link to comment

nhuskers5
At least for the first half, we appeared even with a top notch SEC team in talent level... Quote Link to comment
JJ Husker
Bright spot- we can play with the top teams for portions of a game. Dark spot- we don't play at that level long enough or often enough. Another bright spot today- the weather looked magnificent for those who made the trip. Quote Link to comment

3rd and long
Dennard can throw a clean punch.. Looked like a pro I think that the "tale of the tape" will show that Dennard was short several inches in the "reach" catagory. He's got to get inside. Quote Link to comment
Hercules
I thought there were a number of bright spots today. 1. I thought we executed the option better than we have most of this year, against a very good defense. 2. I loved our gameplan. 3. Our offensive skill position players match up just fine against top notch SEC defenders from an athletic standpoint. 4. Our defensive line was dramatically improved at containing mobile quarterbacks. 5. Andrew Green, Ciante Evans, Baker Steinkuhler, and Chase Rome calmed my worries about life without Jared Crick and Alfonzo Dennard. I thought we were overmatched going into this game, and we were from a talent standpoint. However, to my surprise, we moved the ball very effectively throughout the first half, and really only gave up one TD to South Carolina on defense. Our offensive line was able to get a push, our defensive line was holding their own against the run AND containing a mobile QB. Basically, we showed that when we executed, when we just did our thing, we were very competitive or better against a good SEC team. Penalties, turnovers, special teams blunders, and some stupid luck (any successful hail mary is lucky, I don't care who the receiver is), and more dropped passes is why we lost this game. I don't know how to fix those issues (and apparently neither does Bo at this point... we've been fighting with that stuff for years now), but in general I feel OK about what I saw today. You'd always like to have the win, but today wasn't our day. 1 Quote Link to comment
