What can Bo do to regain your support

Recommended Posts

If he would just be more flexible with his defense i think he could be a much better coach and make us a much better team. He has to not be so stubborn to change when its needed. The defense i feel is too complex for college and one you have to have great athletes and playmakers to work. Its hard to run if you dont.

Now IMO from playing ball, I think one HUGE thing Bo doesn't like to do, and I feel you need to do in college football especially with QBs that can run is play more man coverage on the outside. You need to put in the guys who can play good man to man on the outside so you can have more guys on the inside and backside to play for the run and/or put more pressure on the QB.

Now, you don't need to do this for teams who don't have good running QBs. For instance, think about all the teams we have played since Bo's been here. Which ones do we usually have the best defensive games against?? The teams who's QBs can't run. We have stopped many of those offenses at the word go.

However, he tries to play that same defense against spread offenses with running QBs and it doesn't work unless your defense is full of studs and playmakers(i.e.2009 defense).

I really believe it's as easy as this. You have to play more man on the outside against teams like tOSU, Michigan, NW, etc. This leaves one more, many times at least 2 more guys to defend the run on the inside. Or am I totally missing something? ave top 5-10 recruiting classes every year!

Are you secretly getting some kind of magical Huskerboard circle jerk points for making comments like this?

This is a forum. An anonymous forum. For discussing Husker football. On the internet. Husker football is being discussed.

The hypocrisy just grew even more...

You're avatar is Bo, but display supreme jackassery at what I said... hmmmmmm....

Expand on this. Explain how I displayed "supreme jackassery."

You implied that Bo should tell the whiners and the "let's find a new coach" crowd to stfu. If that's an inaccurate interpretation, please correct me.

My response to you was a reminder that what we're here doing is discussing the program, and discussing Bo's role in the program. Suggesting a couple changes at LB is not even in the same zip code as calling for Bo's head. Take a breath, and relax.

So Bo should sit there, and let the masses that don't like him to keep on railing against him? What would you expect him to do?

Dude, we were fine before you got here, we'll be fine when you're gone...

I would like to see Bo take some of McKewon's suggestions especially about putting Papuchis (sp?) in the booth instead of having him down on the field. Having Team Captains, as well as burning redshirts. I think we have some freshmen that could really make an impact if allowed on the field. Also, if a kid makes a mistake TAKE HIM OUT! Put him on the bench. Make it a privilege to play for Nebraska. I don't care what position you play, if you mess up, guess what? You're going to have to ride the pine for a little bit. Put in the best players. Shoot, it could be that the starter is having a 'bad hair day' and not playing up to par. Take him out! Put in someone else who may just be hot that day and could make a difference for us.

I would also like to see our guys just have fun playing the game that they obviously love. It makes me wonder when was the last time these kids just had fun playing football.

That was a good idea, I'm just not sure if that will happen though. I thought we had just enough depth, that if a kid does mess up, he rides the pinet, to bring his ass back to reality.

Makes me wonder if there's a sense of entitlement among some of the starters? Maybe guys that are starting don't have to worry about losing their spot. I think that you need to earn your spot, and have to keep working to keep that spot.

Once again, you are on the money Ms Hawke...

I agree with you in that I wonder about that sense of entitlement. If every player's job was on the line for every game I wonder what kind of difference it would make? From the qb on down. I know that some of the freshmen may not play perfectly but I think their passion to play would maybe make up for what they lack in technique. It's sure worth a try.

Fear of losing your job can be a hell of a motivator...

Winning is not what it is about for me. It is being prepared to play, to compete, to finish, to adjust.

I will tell you right now, if we had played Ohio State to 21-18 loss I would have been damned near as happy as if we had won. Because to me that would be a major step for Bo. He would have shown that he can go into a hostile situation, manage the game, compete with one of the best and come out beaten, but learning how to bring back Nebraska. IMPROVEMENT!!!

I have talked with several fans out here, some the next morning. Embarassment was all they could say. That is what I hate most about this, not the losses, every team has losses, but total meltdown, losses to teams we should never lose to, a defense that looks like it has no clue of what they are supposed to do, or where to line up. A offense that can run up big numbers on the Sun Belt, but wilt against quality players.

I could care less about winning, I just want to see us competitive on the field and in the coaching staff.

I get what you are saying, but 27 against Wisconsin and 38 against Ohio State are pretty impressive numbers.

Who is in the booth? I have often wondered what the guy in booth is telling Bo.

Its Ross Els and usually he is pointing out hotties in the stadium or getting really excited because the Weiner Slinger guy is pointing the canon right at him

But, do you think that Weiner Slinger has that kind of range?

That one made me laugh.

To be serious.

I have support for Bo. It took a little bit of a hit after the Ohio St. game, but its not gone.

For Bo, and the Huskers for that matter, to earn the little bit of support lost. To me, they need to shut down the Northwestern offense. Not just Colter, but Siemian and Mark as well.

I think if we factor in wind, gasping of air by the bluehairs which depletes the oxygen levels in the stadium and the space time continuum, we very easily could solve this question. Either that or travel in time if you own a delorean
