TGHusker
The fan in me thinks it would be pretty cool but knowing how humble Dr. Tom is I doubt it happens. My thoughts as well. Tom wouldn't want the distraction, the attention, or being made much of. - But it would be cool regardless. Quote Link to comment
TGHusker
Would be cool to see a lot of option plays and fullback handoffs on Saturday. And maybe the coaches can all put their names on their headsets with an old school label-maker. And don't forget - all of the coaches need to wear those red pants that Tom wore back in the day. Lyons in the Sea of Red.
The salute to Tom will be at halftime. Got this email earlier today. With the impending end of an outstanding career as coach and administrator at the University of Nebraska, a tribute to Tom Osborne has been planned for the Huskers final game this season. Tom Osborne will retire his current position as athletic director on Jan. 1, 2013. His five-year stint as a successful administrator follows a stellar career as Nebraska’s head football coach when his teams won 255 games, 13 conference championships and three national titles in 25 years. Saturday’s game against Minnesota, which kicks off at 2:42 p.m. on Saturday will be Tom Osborne’s 500th in his career. At Nebraska’s final home game this season, fans in attendance will have an opportunity to pay tribute to Tom during pregame and halftime festivities. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats a half hour prior to the game in order to enjoy all pregame activities, including a special band performance and senior introductions before the Tunnel Walk. Fans in attendance will have an opportunity to salute the Osborne family at halftime and to view a special video tribute to Tom. So please plan to come early, stay late and be loud! Thank you for your continued support, and GO BIG RED! Quote Link to comment

I made plans to see my grandmother on Saturday and won't be able to make it to the game Quote Link to comment
RedRedJarvisRedwine
TO should skydive into the stadium with a commemorative coin made of 24ct gold with his face on one side and memorial stadium on the other! Perform the coin toss then have a bald eagle swoop in and land on TOs bare hand right after the national anthem! Then TO should warm up the WRs. He has a gun! Then coach NU in the first half. Get up by 35 then go coach Minny in the second half and tie the game. Go to overtime in perpetuity! With TO calling the whole game. Awesome! BTW - student section should be rockin the red pants and white polo shirt and shoes! More Awesome! 1 Quote Link to comment

Stickney
I heard Shatel talking about this. I think it would be a very cool idea. I doubt TO would want too, but it sure would be neat. Quote Link to comment
irafreak
Why would it be a slap in the face to Bo? We're honoring a former coach and soon to be former AD. Teams do this all the time. The chiefs honored Will Shields several years ago at half time. In all fairness to the seniors and Bo this moment would be for the fans...not even TO. And didn't we have a kid that was terminally ill or something like that call a play several years ago? Quote Link to comment

irafreak
I just don't understand the argument against something like this. Have TO come out with the seniors. They will be remembered as the class that ushered one of the greatest (THE greatest) coaches in all college football out for his last home game as a part of the program. People still see TO as an interference or having too much say. He's the freakin AD! To each his own I guess. If we've gotten to the point where it's too much to honor our history then why do we tout it? Quote Link to comment
QMany
Tom ran out of the tunnel many, many times. This is the last time these Seniors will get to. Let them have their pre-game moment. They would be overshadowed by Tom's great accomplishments. I am just talking Tunnel Walk here. Other than that, let them do a piece on him right before the game or at halftime. Also, I have no idea what kind of relationship the players have with Tom. If it is a great relationship, and the Seniors would be even more honored by him joining them, by all means go ahead. Blackshirts007
I wasn't serious with my post holy. Like tschu said, if he led the team out, the stadium would absolutely explode Quote Link to comment
JTrain
Due to NCAA rules, would he actually be able to call a play, since he is not one of the coaches? WHAT? Quote Link to comment
ladyhawke
Great article on what's going to happen on Saturday in honor of Dr. Tom Osborne. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=205744438 1 Quote Link to comment
