Hooked on Huskers
Starling was picked #5 okay, I'm confused ..... http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/recruiting-harrison-still-projected-as-first-round-pick-in-mlb/article_678988de-e488-11e3-bfb3-001a4bcf6878.html The Kansas City Royals — who drafted and signed Bubba Starling away from the Huskers in 2011 — pick 17th. Mavric
Harrison's high school career came to an end yesterday at the hands of Husker baseball commit pitcher Reece Eddins. Now just have to watch and wait.... Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Chris Webb @ChrisMWebb 2h Nebraska commit Monte Harrison is one of seven HSers that will attend next week's @MLBDraft Not news that he's attending but if there's only seven HS guys, that's pretty impressive. Quote Link to comment

HUSKER FREAK
Well, maybe beings he declined the interview with the Husker media that they will see that and low ball him so he decides to come to Nebraska instead. Quote Link to comment
Dr. Strangelove
Just for reference, you can take a look at this chart and see the amount of bonus money a team can give a player for signing. If he is picked as high as #18, he'd get 2.145 million. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Nice find. So, considering Starling was #5 overall, a mid-first round would be in line for a little more than half (relatively speaking as I'm sure the numbers have changed since then) what Starling got. But that's still a pretty big number. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
There is a small sampling of first-rounders who hasn't signed. And when we say small, we mean quite small. In each of the past three drafts, just one of the 32 first-round picks did not ink a deal with a team before the deadline, which this year is July 18. <snip> So while most first-rounders will sign, Husker fans might take the examples of the select few who did not and cling to hope. In 2010, for instance, three of the 32 first-rounders did not sign. In 2009, two didn't reach a deal. Of those combined five didn't sign in those two drafts, four were coming out of high school like Harrison. And three of those four did not sign despite being picked among the Top 14 picks. So, in the spirit of Lloyd Christmas, we're telling you there's a chance. LJS Quote Link to comment
