Everyone's talking about the offense. It's the defense we have to be worried about.

Exactly. We can score all we want, but if we allow 250+ rushing yards and the opponents offense have their way with us, we could lose more than our fair share next year. All it would take, is one crucial turnover to get outscored. Defense wins games. Always has been that way, always will be that way. You of course need a "decent" offense to win too, for those sarcastic people out there :P

16. Northwestern: Pat Fitzgerald's Wildcats gave away several games last year and still managed to make a New Year's Day bowl game. The 'Cats host Ohio State under the lights in October in a game that could have national implications

Whoa....

I'm guessing that means that if Northwestern wins it ruins OSU chance at a MNC, not that Northwestern has a chance at one

This^. The O looked pretty good last year despite the fumbles. The D on the other hand. If they can simply tackle in the open field, even if blown off the LOS it is worth at least 1-2 wins. Have the speed to actually not let a RB get the edge has to be worth at least another. A lot to ask when replacing basically the whole D.

Another if: if we beat UCLA, there's a good chance we'll be ranked very high by the time we go to Ann Arbor.

What good would that do us if we crap down our leg like we did the last time?

It would be kind of neat for a few weeks, other than that, I got nothing.

With the young players, it would do a lot of for their mental state going into Ann Arbor ranked pretty high and undefeated rather than worrying about holding it together and being the reason the team loses another opportunity to get to a BCS bowl. I'm sure they will hear all the pundits and fans throughout the whole year, doubt they would take any significant step forward due to their youth. We all know that the offense will be the strong unit for the team. We know that the defense will be faster. So if they can be more sound and consistent in tackling, that would be a huge step forward from last year.

How high you think we'd be undefeated going into November matchup?

If we start out at around 16th, we could very well be top 10, if not really close, especially with a win over Northwestern.
