Taylor's Potential - We Need Fourth-Quarter Taylor in the First Quarter, Every Game

Is there a longer-length highlight video of the Northwestern game? The only ones I've found are only about a minute long

EDIT - ESPN has some highlights HERE. Only big plays, though.

Ha ha! You'd think Knap would know where to find the real highlights. Since he bailed out early from the game and missed an AWESOME comeback victory.

thats the problem with this whole team imo. they get this air of cool confidence about them like they got this, but they dont play with hair on fire. Slowly that confidence turns into urgency.

Could not agree more. There have been several times the past few years where it seems like Nebraska has shown up to win, not to play. Most recently the CCG, and when Wisconsin wasn't ready to roll over and play dead, the team seemed to have no answer (there were other circumstances going on, but attitude was a key factor).

This team needs to approach every game with the mindset that they're the underdog, every game. Too often it seems like they have this "We're Nebraska" attitude and they're unprepared for the fact that the opponent doesn't see them that way. None of those guys hanging on the Tunnel wall are playing. None of those Heisman Trophy winners, none of those conference championship winners, none of those National Championship winners.

The tradition of this team is a fine selling point to recruits, but it appears that they get the idea that they are part of those championship teams of yore, and they're not even close.

exactly. the play on the field does not match the demeanor. you can throw the process out the window if you're gonna walk around on saturday's like the win is in the bag.

play balls to the wall every second of every play and then be mad that you didn't play harder when the game is over. you owe it to the men lined up next to you.

I hate it. Speaking of the entire team, its as if they have a blind faith in the process and the rest will take care of itself. Not to compare anything to the 90's, but those dudes played like it was their last days on earth. The next game didnt matter. The championship didnt matter. They had to obliterate you NOW! Terrorize you every waking second of the right now. f#*k the next play, f#*k the fourth quarter... im gettin on your ass this second or im not wearing this jersey. bo exudes it too...

HELL YEAH! This part of your post had me fired up and ready to break down a wall so I can sit on my couch and watch football (if my couch had a wall in front of it for some reason).

But then this sentence:

im not gonna flat out say his calmness is a negative, but sometimes his back and forth pace with his hands behind his back as he chomps his gum and stares blankly at the ground seems a little too calm for comfort imo.

sort of describes the head coach that those teams in the 90s had. There must be a different reason for the difference in game day attitudes, perhaps.

na... i thought about it too because you're right. but TO was an in game mastermind, possibly the greatest in game coach of all time. Was he calm? yes, but he was also completely locked into every second of the game and moving chess pieces in his head. Bo has minions for that stuff. lol i don't want it to sound like i'm bo bashing because i love bo.... and i was one that thought that being cool and calm on gameday meant that you were well prepared but now i'm starting to think that it might have some negative effects as well. i'm not claiming to have answers... but my eyes see what they see.

I personally would rather them have the attitude of...."I am TOP dog and you MFing slimy little piece of horse dung aren't to knock me off that. I am going to pound you to a pulp so bad you are begging for mercy and you wake up at 85 years old in a nursing home in night sweats with a concerned nurse hanging over you and you tell her (God Forbid)....you just remembered playing the Cornhuskers.....and.....that's just the first quarter"

Just my own personal preference.

That's not what I said, you nutter.

You certainly implied it.

I'm not saying they can't get to that level, I'm saying they shouldn't approach today's games as if they're carrying the mystique of those old Husker teams.

They're wearing the same uniforms and playing in the same stadium, they ain't going to stop carrying the mystique. Hell, you said yourself the mystique might have gotten them here.

Now, do I think there needs to be some sort of Sr. Leadership that prevents the "take this game off, we're Nebraska, that's enough." mindset? Absofuckinglutely. And I hope Taylor, Ankrah, and others can be those vocal guys. Because we all know it hasn't been there in awhile, (including everyone's favorite son, Rex)

I almost posted this video, which shows most of the game but comes from a dubious source:

that "look at me because this is where i play" sh#t is for the birds man. you carry the mystique by giving mind, body and soul when you lace up those cleats.
