walksalone
a) one of the D's biggest problems is making the inital tackle at the line of scrimmage b) most complete game this year c) running the ball with three quality RB's wins ball games d) the back up QB's are good enough that T-mart could rest until after the bye week (which might be the best thing) Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
Defense still needs lots of work. Way too many mental mistakes for my liking. 1 Quote Link to comment
True2tRA
Defense clearly getting better. Attacking a bit more. The defensive line was unleashed a lot this game and for me that was huge! You could see it paid huge dividends at times. There were a lot of plays made in the backfield and also a few more that could have been made. Either way, I really liked what we saw from this team today. 1 Quote Link to comment
arkiehusker
Looked better. Still a work in progress. Kbell & AA should get a helmet sticker. Afalava is going to be a beast. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yeah the defense did appear to be progressing. It's encouraging to see. Just need to quit with the mental mistakes Quote Link to comment
Husker from Kansas
Our defense can play well when they have 2 weeks to prepare for an opponent 2 Quote Link to comment
presidentjlh
This isn't THE WORST DEFENSE IN HUSKER HISTORY There is still much work to be done on the defensive side of the ball, but today was encouraging. Tommy Armstrong is a time-traveler from the mid-90s. PATs are hard. Kenny Bell is a wizard. 1 Quote Link to comment
NUance
Whenever Kenny Bell makes an AWESOME play he gets a bullsh#t flag. 3 Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
1. Illinois was averaging 40 ppg...our D played well. 2. Our D is very good a taking the ball away. Hell of a strip by Cooper. 3. Afalava played VERY well after Bo ripped into him. He is a player. Michael Rose also played a good game. And Santos was serviceable. 4. IMO Gerry and Bando have hit the Frosh slump....Afalava, Santos, Rose, and Zaire (didn't play today due to ankle) are playing better. 5. Ameer is the best RB. Period. The oline/TE/FB and WR's controlled the edge all day. 6. TA had a good game against his first D-I team. 7. Secondary played very good! JRose is a good coverage guy but his run defense needs some work. Andrew Green stepped up and played very well. Leroy wasn't ready for the BIG10 run game, but was his first game. No Charles Jackson still. 8. D-Line played decent. Much better day by Ankrah, Thad is still Thad. Quote Link to comment
beanman
I fell asleep in the first quarter. How did the QB play look? I woke up with 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter so I didn't see much other than Bo chewing out JP and then the officials at the end. Quote Link to comment
krc1995
Defense has considerable raw talent and just need a coach. Offense is cool and has multiple weapons. Beck is still schizo tho- brillant one minute and an idiot the next. 2 Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
Paps is still trying too master the basics..like substitutions? 3 Quote Link to comment
B.B. Hemingway
1. The defense showed improvement, but we are still vulnerable to the run, and the RB out of the backfield. If Illinois can expose that, so can Northwestern, Michigan, Penn. St., and Ohio St.... Improvement, but far from good enough.... 2. Abdullah is a stud. Best RB in the B1G. 3. Bo hates Papuchis.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratt Mhule
I learned that when Husker fans say its not losing that bothers me, its the way we lose, its a big crock of sh#t. Unless this team plays an absolutely perfect game, no turnovers, no penalties, less than 200 yards of total offense given up and offense scoring at least 50 points, a lot of people will never be happy. And when we do play well, its because the other team sucks... Good game defense. You're going to give up points, its football. But when we needed big stops you provided them. 7 Quote Link to comment

The defense is opportunistic, so they have that going for them.... A lot of bending today, but to their credit, not much breaking.... Quote Link to comment
