Bo Pelini positive achievements

Lets not have this turn into a fire Bo thread. I just thought it would be good to remind people of the good things that have happened under Coach Pelini's regime.

-Ohio State Comeback/Biggest Point Margin comeback in NU history

-Upholds Zach Darlington's scholarship regardless of his playing future

-Excellent GPA and Graduation Rate

-Strict no nonsense off field drama: Ernest Suttles, Quentin Castille etc.

-Nick Pasquale tribute decal and gold/blue baloons for UCLA game

-Shows he can have a good relationship with team: Harlem Shake video, Cell Phone prank etc.

-Penn State pre-game prayer in aftermath of Sandusky scandal and JoePa firing

-Jack Hoffman Spring Game Touchdown and resulting.ESPY Award for Jack

Was Bo the mastermind behind all of these, perhaps not. But it all happened under his watch. Lets try to remember these things when you feel he is being to agressive on the sideline.

Please share what Ive left out.

I do not want to make this thread an anti-Pelini thing... but I must correct one of your points..

you put excellent GPA and graduation rate... not so. Under Pelini the graduation rates have plummeted. NU is 9th in the conference in graduation rate and have fallen precipitously with time. NU is nowhere near as good academically for football players as was the case when Bo arrived.

Going through a conference change (on relatively short notice) that played based on two different philosophies and required different types of personel, and still finding a way to win 9 and 10 games against the toughest possible schedule in those first two years.

This is impressive.

That play was impressive... not just the catch either --- the burst of speed upon catching that ball was amazing.

We've got umpteen threads bashing Bo for one reason to another. Go spew your sh#t in there. Like the Taylor Martinez threads, this is supposed to be a postive thread. Cant follow? Dont open it.

Not to mention, graduation rates are affected by transfers and guys who leave the program or are kicked off for whatever reason. It's a nice way to spin a negative on the fact the Bo runs a pretty tight ship academically. I'll go with the average gpa of the team, since it reflects the guys who are on the team. you know, the ones that actually do matter. Jeebus kriest.

I think he was saying the conference switch was impressive. The gif is in all his posts. Still impressiv e though.

Someone else (BigRedBuster?) said in another thread that the graduation rate is only calculated as of their eligibility being complete, which may be hurting us right now. The actual graduation rate is much higher but doesn't show up in the stats. Perhaps someone else can elaborate.

The way I originally understood it was the grad rate and GPA were among the highest under any head coach of NU. I dont have anything other than hearing that stat multiple times, to back it up.

It is a fact that grad rate is down, and gpa is up-way up. But grad rates are skewed-as I said. GPA's reflect the players that are here. It's a more telling story of the success of the academic side of things.
