Talent loss if Bo is gone

Recommended Posts

I think Ameer and Kenny both go pro.

Well, the only way Bell is going pro next year is as an undrafted free agent. I love the guy, but he's not even close to NFL ready now. AA could certainly go this year and be a second or third round pick, but I think he's smart enough to realize he has a chance to be recognized nationally with another year in college. His decision is tougher for sure but I think he stays.

Dont use short term thinking and concerns to make long term decisions. Most of the time when coaches leave a program, either by getting fired or taking another job, almost all of the players stay. They lose a year of eligibility to transfer if they have already redshirted. And worrying about the recruiting class is silly. Its not like we have a list of commits full of blue chip players, hell its behind Rutgers last I checked the composite rankings.

The only reason Eichorst wouldn't say something is if he was evaluating the coaching position and Bo's job was insecure. Doesn't make sense to come out and support Pelini if that's the case, and he's not about to come out and say he's evaluating Pelini's job and possibly looking at interest from other coaches.

Or perhaps Pelini and Eichorst do talk. Like Pelini has indicated.

As I've said before, but not in this thread, it doesn't make sense for Eichorst to stay quiet and mum about his support for Pelini (if it exists) because of the impact it can have on recruiting and fan support. It is illogical and downright idiotic. The national perception of Nebraska's program right now is that Bo Pelini's job is insecure and Shawn Eichorst is looking at other options/evaluating Pelini's job.

If that wasn't the case, Eichorst would say something.

Like I said, it's because such a concept and rumors are so laughable, that's theyre not worth addressing. Seriously.

Or not seriously. I seriously dont even know.

Recruiting continues and Pelini has communicated about the rumor mill to the players and recruits. The medias job is to sell advertising.

Or he doesn't want to put himself in the exact situation that the Florida AD put himself in by opening up his mouth too soon.

Sorry that was a response to why Shawn wouldn't offer a statement of support.

Foley has said again that Muschamp will return......and Pelini has a winning record......with the possibility of 9 or 10 wins once again. But yes, Pelini and Eichorst communicate, at least according to Pelini.

Look, I agree that some of the rumors and conjecture are ridiculous. I get it. But, if the decision has been made and there is even the tiniest chance recruiting is being affected why not quash it? That's all I'm saying.

Because when rumors are stupid, annoying and ridiculous, you let them flame out. You dont even acknowledge them. This same situation has been hammered the past three offseasons. Though it's got a bit more steam this year, but regardless, it has. When you address rumors, you give a lot of power to the rumor and the people spreading it.

Is any of this making sense? Cuz it sure the heck aint to me.
