I feel like we could create a fun madlibs for Bo Pelini press releases.

"I want to say _________ to all of the fans. My behavior was _________ and is not ___________ of what I stand for. Nebraska has _______ fans. I look forward to _________ Nebraska in the future".

I just wanna see Bo do this in person. Get in front of a camera. Trot out to midfield before the Spring game. Say something along the lines of "Look, I've said some things and done some things I didnt mean. I let my emotions get the best of me and caused problems that have made their way to the field." and so on and so on. Something real and genuine. Not some screenshot of a tweet that he himself probably didnt even write. Until that, I'm still lost. Will I support the team and program? You damn right. Becuase again, Nebraska football is a hell of a lot bigger and more important than Bo Pelini.

You really believe this don't you? I would believe that USC, a team that is located in the third largest city in this country and the second largest media market would have a little bit more of an issue with media circus. They don't even have an NFL team there, everyone is a USC fan.

Lincoln, Nebraska is not equal to Los Angeles, CA in terms of media scrutiny.

It's about watching how the NATIONAL media responds...not fans on a bulletin board. If anyone manufactured things, it's the media imo.

It amazes me, the extent to which we've made the "media" out to be this boogeyman desperate to squash all things Nebraska. ESPN hates us, the local media hates us, etc. There's a psychiatric term for this: delusional disorder

Delusional disorder, previously called paranoid disorder, is a type of serious mental illness involving psychosis. Psychosis is the inability to tell what is real from what is imagined. The main feature of delusional disorder is the presence of delusions -- unshakable beliefs in something untrue. People with delusional disorder experience non-bizarre delusions, which involve situations that could occur in real life, such as being followed, poisoned, deceived, conspired against, or loved from a distance. These delusions usually involve the misinterpretation of perceptions or experiences. In reality, however, the situations are either not true at all or highly exaggerated.

the national media would not be covering the angry bo story if bo wasn't providing them with the angry bo story.

Love Nebraska, awfully hard to cheer for coach Bo. An apology was beyond necessary, good to see it happened. Here's to next year I guess, really hope it's not more of the same.

i think it would have done a great more good if he held a press conference and would have personally addressed the fanbase. but instead it was quietly released on huskers.com.

but i hope we have a good year next year. hard to think it could be a disappointment, kind of over being disappointed in bo and his product. but the players do deserve better.

Agree with this but timing is my only question. I don't think a big circus needs to be made of calling a special press conference just for that. But I'm not sure when the next scheduled one is. Monday? That's too long.

the funny apart about it is he doesn't need too address the fan base. He owes the fan base nothing!. it's only the people that are so butt-hurt that needs the butter on the ass to fell better.

Bwahahahahaa

No doubt about it. But why do I care what the national media is covering? Look at the Florida situation.....Jeremy Foley said Muschamp would be back, yet the media still questioned Muschamp's job security. Eichorst has given a statement. Yet the media, both national and local will still go at it and question Eichorst. No wonder coaches (and not just Pelini) act the way they do toward the media. Some want Pelini to act better toward the media. I could care less how he acts toward the media. The media hurt our team this year. I'm not happy about that.

You brought them up. And truthfully, how do we know you actually are competent to take care of them? If i had to guess it sounds like you probably live with them and they are taking care of you and your glad he can drive so he can take you where you need to go.

Yep, I did bring up him being a fan. That shouldn't open the door for you to educate me on his mental status. Otherwise, we're going to have to start talking about your family to even things out won't we?

I for one, do not want to go down this rabbit hole and this will be my last post about my grandfather. I'll thank you to silence your immature posts about him and me because the only thing they're proving is that you have no legs to stand upon with your arguments and that you're posts are incredibly insensitive and uncalled for.

Mods, I won't answer this guy anymore on the topic of my family and I would hope Huskerboard would back me on this.

You do know you are on a message board right? This isnt the circle of trust. You brought your family into it trying to make a ridiculous point. If i were you i'd look into a mirror and apologize to yourself. Also, you might find 2-3 people on here to back you up, but from the looks of it not many more.

Also, i think i will self report myself for being so inconsiderate to you. ;)

Up on a high horse after dogging the mans 91 year old grandpa. You all class bro, you all class!

Devnet:

Name another coach who's seen this type of circus chief? Go ahead...name another coach and program....you can't because there isn't another. This is it.

Joe Paterno

lane Kiffin got fired in an airport lounge, after a "vote of confidence" 2 years in a row

Woody Hayes, anyone?

Charlie Weiss was a pretty ungraceful exit from ND

Paterno would be the only one. Maybe Weiss. The others, not even close to the media circus.

Really? You think the head coach at Texas has less media criticism than the one at Nebraska? Look, I'm all for keeping Pelini since I think we've got a team to contend the next couple years, but you've got to get out to some other places if you think the media attention at NU is worse than at UT. There's way, WAY more attention at UT since there's something like 20 newspapers covering that team from around the state of Texas. And that's not even counting the batsh!t crazy fans they've got.

I don't remember the last week Mack Brown had 4 articles written about him being in the hotseat flash across the front page of NCAAF at ESPN. That's what happened this week for Bo.

Like I said, not even close.

Did you just not check the internet these past few months? One of the main headlines for awhile was about how Nick Saban may take over as the head coach of Texas....this was even after Texas beat Oklahoma and had a nice little winning streak going. Give me a break, Mack Brown has way more attention on him than Bo.

Devnet is actually right on this one. I live in TX and I can tell you the only places I read about Mack being gone are the (always reliable) internet and the bastions of great journalism on ESPN discussing it earlier in the year. Pelini on the other hand has an entire fanbase cannibalizing each other as well as every sports news station in the country trotting out their "Bo has one foot in the grave" narrative whenever possible. That includes the local sports pages here in DFW. Size of the media market means very little in this case, it's more about the fanbase's fervor for all things Husker. That's great when our team is up, but my god does it get ugly when things don't go NU's way! Fans of teams like UT and USC don't take things to this level because a majority of their fans could give a sh!t about the team if they aren't in the Natty hunt. That is not the case for Nebraska fans. Unfortunately for us the sharks in the media know this and love to chum the waters and watch the feeding frenzy.

So it is the media's fault that we sh#t the bed in the second half vs UCLA? Or when the team was going through the motions and were beat by double didgits at Minnesota? Or maybe it was their fault that we turned the ball over 5 times and couldn't get any turnover's ourselves vs MSU? Or maybe it was the media's fault that Iowa came into our house on seinor day and physically dominated us from start to finsih and beat us by a whopping 21 freaking points?

I think you get my point, the media didn't hurt this team, Bo's lack of ability to constanly get this team prepared to play at least close to thier best on a weekly basis is what hurt this team. It is laughable that he would try to pin this on anyone but himself and his MAC level coaching staff. But what do you expect from a man who still has not grown up and acts like a seven year old that doesn't get his way everytime adversity hits and it is no surprise that he teams also have this trait.

quoted for truth

quoted for making your own truth. pretty sure in our comebacks last year he was pretty calm. yeah sometimes he acts out a bit but don't act like it's everytime adversity hits. that is a lie
