HuskerinSunDiego
1. Totally want to play them. Payback would be sweeter than sweet. We have to kill the jinx by beating them on the field. 2. Who starts at QB for us? I’m not remotely a T-Mart fan and am glad that Armstrong got a lot of game experience this year. However, I’ll admit that for the bowl game, T-Mart would be much more effective than Armstrong (i.e., if he’s healthy). Armstrong has kind of tapped out at about 10 - 14 points a game. If he’s healthy, T-Mart’s worth 28. He's been the starter for 4 years. A few weeks running the offense and he'll be fine (if healthy - - a big "if"). 3. Bo will be FIRED up to get Texas. 4. This is one of the best rivalries in college football. Both teams despise each other on every level. Can’t get better. 5. For those who don’t want this game, would you prefer Texas Tech? Didn’t think so. 6. If you go to the bowl, expect to see a lot of shirts with the seemingly polite saying on the front, "Got a second?" 7. It might be another 20 years before we play them again (Still waiting for revenge against FSU). Let’s take it now, so that we can gloat for the next 20 years ("Yeah, but who won the last meeting?") 8. A-1 and Bevo - - nothing better together in the world. Quote Link to comment
Landlord
I'm just.... really resisting the urge here. Yes. Playing Texas in a bowl game would be nice, and help heal a lot of the wounds of the regular season if we were to win. Quote Link to comment

This is a rivalry. We both LOVE trying to beat each other. There is extra intensity in these games. If this isn't a rivalry, then nothing is. P.S. I became a Husker 26 years ago when I first attended the university. Have found it humorous during that entire time how legions of Husker fans have done their darnest to slap down any suggestion that any game against any team other than OU is a rivalry. Totally ridiculous. Quote Link to comment

Totally ridiculous. We're Texas' bitch. There is extra animosity on our side because they own us, but we're just another team they laugh at. The same way that we laughed at Colorado and Missouri and K-State and Kansas and etc. 4 Quote Link to comment

Redux
It would be great paying them back but two things happen: 1) We win. Every Longhorn we encounter uses the "Yeah but we suck this year." 2) We lose. Texas fans feed us more crow than we can deal with, Lincoln implodes. Quote Link to comment
NUance
Not a rivalry. But I'd still love to play them and kick them to the curb! We owe them several beatings. Quote Link to comment

HuskerinSunDiego
The thrill of playing them is dealing with the fear of "what if we lose?" If the intensity that this game brings doesn't rise to the level of a rivalry, then I'd like some of you wise scribes to tell me which of our foes are considered rivals? Quote Link to comment

If the intensity that this game brings doesn't rise to the level of a rivalry, then I'd like some of you wise scribes to tell me which of our foes are considered rivals? The truth is, Nebraska doesn't have any actual rivals at this point. A rivalry isn't just created out of thin air. Texas has owned us. We don't play OU anymore. Colorado, Mizzou, and K St had their moments but never developed into any longterm mutual excitement, and they are gone now anyway. We've been in the Big Ten for 3 years and haven't properly developed any big rivalries with anyone yet. The potential is there down the road for a few schools, but all of the old Big Ten teams already have their longstanding rivalry. We just don't have one right now. Quote Link to comment
