Christ in Christmas

I think it is certainly time for atheists to put their money where their mouth is and insist on working Christmas Day.

The Christians can put their money where their mouths are and swear off all forms of commercialism. No tree, no gifts, just church and serving at a soup kitchen.

I know quite a few who are doing this more and more. Fewer gifts and more giving to the poor in both time and money spent.

Other side of the coin. Atheists get bludgeoned over the head with the self righteous Christians ramming their religion down their throats. Yes, they have the name of the holiday after their beliefs, but the time of year, and damned near every activity most of them are going to partake in is non-Christian in origin. If the asshat 'war on Christmas' people would shut up, the other side would do so as well.

Same point I've been making, and I agree with you, but I would just add that I personally, and a whole lot of other Christians, don't claim the "War on Christmas" asshats for our team. I realize there is no official membership policy to Team Jesus and it's improper to judge unrighteously, but that's my stance.

I agree as well. The religious fanatics that go bat sh#t crazy are not helping either side.

Yeah, those' War on Christmas' clowns are just so damned loud, and have a whole TV network as their mouthpiece right now. How much less drama would we have if foxnews, and the likes of Rush, were to cease to exist tomorrow? I'm guessing a lot.

You must watch Fox News. I don't and actually, this thread is the first time I have heard anything mentioned about the "war on Christmas" all season. It has been very nice.

I suggest you stop listening and watching various "news" networks from both sides. Your life becomes much more peaceful.

I am really agreeing with Landlord and Knapp in this thread. The entire argument is manufactured by people with an agenda. Let people worship how they choose and let them celebrate Christmas however they choose.

Now, I would tend to believe this type of Christmas is much more pathetic and damaging to society in general than anything Christians could possibly do or some idiotic sign put up in Time's Square:

Black Friday Marred By Violence In Several States

This is just plain disgusting.

Exactly! The commercialism of the holiday is a far more threatening war on christmas than some Salvation Army door greeter saying "Happy Holidays."

(That door greeter was then assaulted for not saying Merry Christmas . . . if anyone was wondering.)

Lol. We had a customer ranting about that the other day. He told my coworker "Merry Christmas... and it IS Merry Christmas, not this Happy Holidays bullsh*t"

Totally unprovoked. She even said Merry Christmas too, but he went on and on about Christmas being the best/only holiday that should be celebrated and people trying to take it away. I had to close my door so I could laugh out loud.

Also, I just noticed there is a "Keep Christ in Christmas" billboard outside our office!

I'd probably respond with something like "yes . . . this is what Jesus would want you to be upset about." But then again . . . I don't have to keep any customers happy.

why would someone work on a federal holiday if they did not have to?

I'd be more than willing to work on Christmas day if I got an extra vacation day . . . but yeah. It doesn't make sense if you actually think.
