Ok.....the rest of the schedule

If NU goes 5-1 down the stretch with say a loss to Indiana and then wins 2 in tournament that would make them 21-12 and being a pretty hot team at the end of the year. I think that would be enough to get them into the big dance, but whether they get there is another story. There will be a lot of teams with similar records.

I don't have a huge problem with it if they don't get in with that record, but why does it always seem like Georgetown gets into the show with a 17-14 record.

Because they're Georgetown.

C'mon... if we have records that are anywhere near each other and we both happen to be on the bubble, who do you think the selection committee is going to go with? They don't give a crap about our feel-good story or bringing change to the tourney. They're going to go with the team with tradition. It's the same reason we sometimes get slotted into a better bowl game than we deserve at the end of the FB season... We're Nebraska. We have a ridiculous fan base and everyone knows it.

With that said... there's a reason I never take GTown to get out of the first round in the tourney.

I have a feeling that the finale against Wisconsin at PBA is going to be the best Nebrasketball game in a LONG time. We'll still be sitting right on the bubble, needing wins to boost our resume and Wisconsin is our last chance (outside of a deep run in the conference tourney). The postseason implications will heighten the tension and bring out a fire in Husker basketball fans that they hadn't felt, at least in this sport.

We may have begun our rivalry in football, but basketball is currently not the same. I realize that basketball is a different animal, but this game could go a long way in determining how we look at Wisconsin in basketball.

We have a lot to lose, they don't.

They have been the ones who routinely shatter our dreams on the football field, here's hoping that changes on the hardwood.

More bubble watch from Sporting News but their's isn't so rosy:

A team such as Nebraska still has a lot of ground to cover before it’s any sort of NCAA candidate. The Huskers are only 14-10 overall. They’re 3-7 against the RPI Top 50. They are not going to do much over what remains to add to the high-level achievement element of their resume. Their only remaining game against the Big Ten elite is the season-ender at home against Wisconsin. But they do have a chance to improve their appeal with a series of games against the low end of the league. It’s a long way home from here, but at least they’re in the discussion.

That's what I am saying, they never get out of the first round. The big east has been living on its past rep for 20 years IMO. It's not 1985 and Patrick Ewing is not at Gtown and Chris Mullen isn't at St. Johns and Rollie Massimino is not the head coach at Villanova anymore.

I know the selection committee doesn't give this as much thought as football bowl games do, but this could work in our favor in hoops too if we are in fact on the bubble come selection Sunday. I think a hot Nebraska team would do a much better job of selling its ticket allotment than say a 17-14 Georgetown team would. Plus it seems like each location has a team that people root for because they are the underdogs and people like upsets. I feel like Nebraska could be that team wherever they get sent. It seems like we have alumni everywhere.

Not after he auctioned off his sweater collection to Rik Neuisel and Jim Tressel...........
