Minnesota_husker
I think with the strength of the B1G this year, they get 6 in. So lets just take a look and throw some predictions out there: STANDINGS: Michigan State- 20-4(9-2)- NW, NEB, @ Pur, @ Mich, ILL, IA, @OSU Michigan- 17-6(9-2)- @Wis, OSU, MSU, @Pur, MINN, @Ill, IND Iowa-18-6(7-4)- @PSU, @IND, Wisc, @MIN, Pur, @MSU, ILL Ohio State-19-5(6-5) Mich, @ILL, NW, MINN, @PSU, @IND, MSU Wisconsin-19-5(6-5)MIN, @Mich, @Iowa, IND, @PSU, PUR, @NEB Minnesota-16-8(5-6)@Wisc, @NW, ILL, @OSU, Iowa, @MICH, PSU Northwestern- 12-12(5-6)@MSU, MINN, @OSU, IND, @NEB, PSU, @PUR Indiana- 14-9 (4-6)-PSU, @Pur, Iowa, @NW, @WISC, OSU, NEB, @MICH Nebraska 12-10(4-6)-ILL, @MSU, PSU, Pur, @ILL, NW, @IND, WISC Purdue 14-10 (4-7)-IND, @MSU, @NEB, MICH, @IOWA, @WISC, NW Illinois 14-10 (3-8)-@NEB, OSU, @MINN, NEB, @MSU, MICH, @Iowa Penn State 12-12(3-8)- @IND, IOWA, @NEB, OSU, WIS, @NW, @MINN I wont do my predictions here, so other people can quote this with theirs without having to delete mine. mrandyk
(post from a diff't thread; more appropriate here. ) Sooooo, how many B1G teams get an invite to The Dance this year? Seven again, like last year? (Eight maybe?) I'm assuming seven B1G teams get an invite to March Madness. Right now we're tied for 8th. One game behind Northwestern. We have 8 B1G games left, including 5 home games. 4 of the 8 games look very winnable for us. Northwestern has 7 games left. They'll be lucky to win 3. Soooooo, anyone think this is a likely scenario: ____We finish out with 8 conf wins total (going 4-4 our last 8 games), ________+ ____we beat NW by virtue of the tie-breaker, ________= ____PROFIT (invite to The Dance) (Note: This assumes we also somehow get by Indiana, who is presently tied with us at 8th place, also with a 4-6 record in the B1G) Wishful thinking? Likely? Only-if-Hell-freezes-over? Iowa finished 6th in the Big Ten last year, did not get a bid. If we finish at 9-9 and 6th or 7th, we would suffer the same fate as they did. Placing high in the conference won't do you any good if you're resume is still terrible. Two years ago Washington won the Pac-12 regular season title, but didn't even make the tourney with their horrible non-conference record. The selection committee cares not where you place in the standings. Quote Link to comment
NUance
Iowa finished 6th in the Big Ten last year, did not get a bid. Two years ago Washington won the Pac-12 regular season title, but didn't even make the tourney with their horrible non-conference record. The selection committee cares not where you place in the standings. So we'd need to win three or four more conf regular season games, then win a game or two in the conf tourney. Surely *that* would get us in. Quote Link to comment
TAKODA
I don't see Big dance this year even if we did go 6-2 next 8. Nit yes, but NCAA, I love what Miles is doing but wow, that would be pretty unreal IMO. Quote Link to comment

Blackshirts007
If Terran sticks around I think we make it to the dance next year. Terran is a huge boost of offense and I think it outweighs all of the dumb mistakes and selfishness that he has at times. Quote Link to comment

Terran is a huge boost of offense and I think it outweighs all of the dumb mistakes and selfishness that he has at times. I agree with this as long as either Smith or Hammond come into the year being at least some what a threat on the inside. Smith is already an upgrade from who we have had there the last few years and I've been excited about his potential. However, then he goes into periods like right now where he disappears. Hammond is a big time recruit for Nebraska but it might take a year to really get adjusted to the Big Ten play. He also might need to have a year in the weight room to be able to be force the way we need under the basket. BUT....the position looks more promising than it has for a years. If we can keep developing the outside guys and put then add someone on the inside.....this team could get really fun to watch. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
Considering we were picked 12th in the conference and started 1-5, getting up close to 8th wouldn't be a bad accomplishment. Quote Link to comment

Yep; there is a lot to look forward too! There have only been a few games where we took a sh*t and looked like we used too most every game (years gone by). But that happens to the best of them every once in a while. Quote Link to comment

Penn State 12-19(3-15) I think this is pretty realistic, however, if we can beat Illinois on the road or Wisconsin at home then that would put us 6th in the conference. Add a win or two in the conference tourney and you would have to like our chances. At the very least, there would be some excitement on Selection Sunday. I thought we were out of it for sure, but looking at the RPI rankings, we are only 10 spots behind of the last team in. How crazy will PBA be for the last game against Wisconsin? This might actually happen! Quote Link to comment
Comish
Love all the optimism and projections! However, a cautionary dose of reality is that not a SINGLE game is a lock-down winner for this team. Even though we all expect the home court advantage of PBA to bolster us, Smile's team this year has proven that nothing can be taken for granted; we're just not good enough to eek out a win IF we are not focused every time.........even at home. With that said, we should be excited for the season to play out................and with the parity of this conference................ANYTHING can happen. Quote Link to comment

BigRedBuster
Hey...as of now, we are alone in 6th place in the conference. Win over MSU and we will be tied for 5th.....(that assumes everyone else stays the same for which they won't.) Yep....I'm celebrating every little mile stone I possibly can and drinking every drop of red cool aid I can find. Michigan State 10-2 21-4 Michigan 10-2 18-6 Iowa 7-4 18-6 Wisconsin 7-5 20-5 Ohio State 6-6 19-6 Nebraska 5-6 13-10 Minnesota 5-7 16-9 Northwestern 5-7 12-13 Indiana 4-7 14-10 Purdue 4-7 14-10 Penn State 4-8 13-12 Illinois 3-9 14-11 All but MSU and Wisconsin are behind us in the rankings (as far as remaining games go). Actually, we are the first team not ranked. Quote Link to comment
