How in the world did Baylor go 9-9 and finish 6th in the Big XII? I can see losing to Kansas a couple times and Iowa State - although they beat the Cyclones once. But West Virginia? Texas Tech? Couldn't at least split with Texas? Must be playing well at the right time.

They went on their slide when Cherry got hurt. And the majority of the teams that beat them were ranked teams during that slump

The Huskers scored five more points on Baylor than the Bluejays did and gave up 11 fewer.

NU > CU

Well if that's the case based on how they both played against Baylor then we can also claim that

Mercer > Duke

NDSU > Oklahoma

Dayton > OSU > Syracuse

Couldn't find the tongue-in-cheek emoticon....

After the UNC-ISU game I've come to the conclusion that NCAA refs are incompetent.

The call at the end was the correct call..

Yep.

It was the correct call no doubt and that's coming from a UNC fan. Just seems like the officiating is getting worse and worse every year.

Officiating is getting worse, but that was actually a good job by the officials. Very piss poor job by the clock operator.

I know their one player was injured for a while, but you also have to keep in mind that what Baylor has in length and athleticism, they lack in in-game coaching ability.

It was like the McDermott's had never seen a zone defense before. That was piss-poor coaching and player recognition.

they just could not contend with the size of baylor. that, and baylor being extremely hot and creighton being cold was a recipe for disaster. not hard to admit that creighton is woefully average when they are not shooting well.

Just sit someone in the middle that can hit a 12-15 footer. Hit a few and they have to collapse and shooters will be open. If you don't, they can get away with only guarding the perimeter and letting Austin control everything 15 feet and in. Creighton didn't and they got worked.

Greg got out coached by Scott Drew. Not many get out coached by Scott Drew.

you are really underestimating how well baylor was playing. and how easy it is to 'just sit someone in the middle that can hit a 12-15 footer.' it is not that easy to get the ball inside the perimeter with the amount of athleticism and length baylor had.

I agree. I think that the games Baylor lost were due to being out-coached, because they have the athleticism and shooting ability to win this whole tournament. Scott Drew looks like a better coach because of his players--not the other way around.

I'm not underestimating how well Baylor shot. I was not as impressed with their defense. Creighton has had trouble against the zone lately, it is not a secret. The middle was WIDE OPEN. Commentators were mentioning it, too. Instead, Doug and others just floated to where they wanted to be on the court, the perimeter, where four defenders were camped out. They were challenging them to beat them in the middle and with the mid-range game. This challenge was not accepted.

Yes, Baylor switched up their looks, ran matchup zone, and "amoeba" defenses. However, if you have the best player in the land, you have to know that is coming and prepare for it.
